The Rope King SBN-141000 solid braided nylon rope is a nylon rope that is solid braided, measures 1/4" in diameter by 1,000' long with an SWL limit of 124 lb., and is suitable for use in a wide variety of applications, including recreation, home, boating, pulleys, and automotive. Nylon rope resists abrasion and stretches to absorb shock from vibrations. The solid braided construction helps the rope hold its round shape under pressure and load, making it useful in pulleys and winches. It cannot be unraveled, even when cut. This rope has an SWL (safe working load) limit of 124 lb. and is white in color.Specifications Diameter 1/4" (6.4 mm) Length 1,000'/304.8 m Safe Working Load (SWL) Limit 124 lb./56.2 kg Fibrous ropes used for pulling and lifting are made of natural and/or synthetic fiber strands. A combination of characteristics, including material, construction, diameter, length, and breaking strength, give each rope its performance capability. Fibrous rope materials are selected for properties such as strength, flotation, elasticity, and resistance to abrasion, ultraviolet light, and chemical compounds. In solid braided rope, strands alternate between forming the outside of the rope and the interior of the rope. Solid braided rope tends to hold its round shape under pressure and load, making it useful in pulleys and winches. This type of rope is sturdy but not suitable for splicing. The breaking strength for fibrous rope is the strength at which new rope will fail under a stationary load. Breaking strength is not considered safe working load (SWL) limit.Rope King USA manufactures a variety of ropes for industrial, mechanical, marine, and household purposes. The company, founded in 2008, is headquartered in Solon, OH.

A great soft, flexible nylon.
This was the first of many "nylon" purchases and it has been my favorite. It is a soft feeling, very bendable "nylon" rope. It feels great and ties small tight knots and frictions (for an artificial rope). It is now selling for more than 3x the first time I bought it but I really liked it and am done experimenting with different brands and compositions, so I bought another 1000 feet.I will say that it doesn't take dye well. I've been getting slightly inconsistent but still good looking pastels instead of the dark jewel tones I would expect and have been getting from 100% nylon. This has become my go to nylon. So, I got another order and while still better than any other nylon I've purchased online, this second spool looks identical but melts slightly less well. It also came not one a well built but rough amateur spook but with two plastic ends that are not attached. The moment I lifted the rope, the top fell off and a couple hundred feet of rope came loose. The bottom came loose too, even though I was careful. Three of us unspooled and unknotted it over four hours but it was a manageable pain. There was one spot about 300 feet in where the rope showed some minor imperfections and pulls. Even with these problems, it is still better than other spools I've bought on Amazon.

Rope will unravel when cut...
Contrary to the description this rope does unravel when cut. Quite easily actually. So I use my old standby method of wrapping with electrical tape, then cut in the middle of the tape rap, and then burn both ends with a cigarette lighter. This rope wears much better than poly rope or any rope that is just twist wrapped. I have used it a half dozen times wrapping pickup loads to the waste disposal and regarding wear it has held up real well. No frays or rough spots and no separation of the individual braids. Much different than the previous cheap twisted poly ropes that I've used in the past. Plus this rope winds up without curling or knotting after each use. I find this to be very advantageous as compared to cheaper poly twist braid ropes.I would definitely buy it again, but downgraded by one point because of the fray issue as they stated more than once that it wouldn't.Mine came with a wood spool, instead of plastic, which was nice.Overall a very solid rope and other than fraying when cut, its super.Update 5-25-13:I finally got around to measuring the thickness as it seemed a little less than the advertised .250. It was .220 which is about 1/32 under 1/4 inch. Not big deal to me, but thought it worth mentioning.I also wanted to add how tight this particular rope is wound. It really is solid. Again, if it wasn't for the fraying it would be a solid 5.

Not what it claims but does well.
This rope is not 1/4 inch slightly smaller, served us well on the boat and in the shop. came with lock nuts and wood spool ends so im giving manufacturers/sellers kudos for listening to reviews! We use it on crab traps and it’s fine for utility or tag line and is nylon so it sinks. It will unbraid if left loose when cut, we mounted a hot knife beside prep table on boat so not a problem, roll off what is needed cut and tie float on and trap is dropped! Good all purpose rope to have around and 4 stars because it not tru 1/4 in. Ordering another spool now. Will continue to order in future.

Spool fixed (Well, sort of)
Ordered this rope due to the price despite reviews remarking about some spools arriving broken with the rope tangled. I have had this problem happen when a spool got broken and it is a mess. You then have to find a suitable spool and spend a lot of time untangling the 1000 ft. wad of rope. Luckily the vendor has obviously taken action on this as mine arrived on a wooden spool. This solves the broken plastic issue. I don't wish to be persnickety, but my wooden spool was held together by three all-thread bolts, and one of them had come un-bolted and the other two had loosened to near separation. Had they turned loose the result would have been the same as in the broken plastic version. I would recommend they either use lock nuts or (as I did) thread locker. Otherwise the rope seems to be of good quality and should serve it's purpose well.

The spool was wooden and has held up fine.
A very soft but strong rope. At about 800 feet into the roll found a section that was slightly frayed with some black material (grease?) on the rope and a paper sticker written in Chinese? (perhaps an inspectors mark). The rope was sound, and removed the frayed fuzz with a bic lighter. The spool was wooden and has held up fine.

Why did the price double in 30 days?
There was a frayed 30’ section and the cut ends raveled. I needed to tie knots at all cut locations or burn with a cigarette lighter which wasn’t adequate heat to melt ends from fraying. I needed a second roll so I went to place a order and the price went from $69 on the first roll to $140 on the second roll in less then a month after the first roll purchase. I’m looking elsewhere for the second roll.

Broken spool was a BIG problem
The rope seems OK, though it is a little bit thin for 1/4". I take a big issue with the condition of the spool. One end was totally broken off. Having a 1000' spool of rope with one end broken off is a pain in the ass. The rope fell off the end and become a tangled mess within 3 minutes of being in my laborers hands. It cost me $40 in labor to straighten it out for use. I feel confident the spool was broken before it was mailed to me because it came wrapped in saran wrap to hold the pieces together. After obtaining the product I read another review on here that said both of the ends of their spool were broken off. It is not like it is just 100' and I can just coil it up with no spool, this is 1000'. I was planning on having the spool for some time and playing out the rope as I needed it. Sure I could send it back but that would be a pain in the ass and I didn't order it because I need to use it weeks from now, I need to use some right away and didn't have the time or patience to send it back and wait for another to come. What I do have time for it to write this bad review. :(

I purchased 3 spools of this rope (3,000 feet), and it is overall a good product. One spool had a splice in the rope that was not a very smooth transition, but other than that, it is a good product.
