Great book if you are getting into food photography
I have been doing stock photography for a few years. Food has always been my challenge, styling is my biggest challenge. I ordered this book as I had seen the author's work and loved the fact she always tried to help people in social media platforms. I was looking through food photography books and came across this one and realized it was hers.I have several food photography books and this one stays in the studio area. The first part is the basics of using a dslr. I flipped through that relatively quickly as I am proficient with that, but I did notice she does it in a way where its easy to follow. The rest of the book I was glued to. She covers a lot of detail and has a lot of photos of different things she tries before she gets that perfect shot. One chapter is a walk through of each step of several foods she did. I love the fact that she shows how she tried this, did the photo, didn't like it, so tried something different. It shows that even the awesome pro's don't get it right the very first shot. There are tons of tips and tricks at how to get that food looking perfect.

The place to start if think you're interested in food photography
While a large part of the book seemed to cover basic camera stuff on a very armature level (hence A Beginner's Guide) it didn't treat the reader like they were stupid and I kept reading. There were a lot of good tips through out the book but the reader is constantly reminded, or more encouraged to use them to develop their own style. This is not a food styling book but it deals a lot with the composition, lighting and detail of your shots. The many examples walk you through her thought process, showing what doesn't work and how she corrects it to make something that does.I've only just realized the joy I get from creating, photographing and eating my food (I thought I liked landscape photography) and I felt I was the exact target reader for this book. After reading this book I look at recipes and pictures of food in a whole different way.If you think you have an interest in food photography then this is a great book to start with.

Ditch your phone camera
I'm delighted by this book! I really like that Corinna not only shared her experience on how to entice the viewer through a mouthwatering photo but she also explains in depth the technical part of photography. Her lighting chapter is excellent and will give you great insights on how to achieve certain mood using light. I'm a portrait photography but an enthusiastic food photographer. Photographing food is somewhat different from photographing people and as you read this book you'll find out why. This is a good book for both experienced photographers who want to learn how to photograph food and for anyone in the food business who wants to be able to photograph their own work. Her technical chapters are easy to read and get right to the point. I love that she gave us some great DIY tips showing us that you don't always need expensive gear to achieve mouthwatering images. I highly recommend this books for bloggers, restaurant owners, and any photographer that wants to learn the nuances of photographing food.

Great for a bit of knowhow in the food photography world.
I brought two books, this and another one (sent the other back) . This is the better book for tips on how to shoot food. It's been a very useful reference guide, and some great advice on shooting food.It has examples of iso, f-stop and focal length for each shot. But also shows how a shot was created form the final shot and working backwards to where it started showing light direction, flags and positioning and background props. There is also a chapter on PP so it's the whole shoot, not just the taking of the pictures.A very good book and a enjoyable read.If you want help with your food photography then this is the boom to get.
