Q: How many pounds of sand do I need to fill these?

I bought a 50lb bag of play sand from home depot and it used about 1/3 to 1/2 of that bag

Q: Can these be attached to the bottom of an outdoor umbrella to keep it sturdy?

Maybe need to use quite a few of them? The zippers of bags tend to stuck too.

Q: How do you close and seal these bags?

Zipper only, I suggest large ziploc bags for the sand or rocks or whatever you use for weight, then put those in the bags and zip them up
