Fabriano1264 Watercolor Pad, 7 x 10, Bright White

I am about to purchase my 2nd Fabriano 1264 Watercolor Pad. I love everything about this Watercolor pad. I love the size, 7x10, even though it comes in other sizes. I love that the paper is 100% cotton and the best quality for watercolor painting; because not all 100% cotton watercolor pads are created equal. I have a 100% cotton watercolor pad in a beautiful pink leather binder, but it's made in China and the paper dulls the watercolors and it does not perform like high quality papers. I love the wire binding that makes it so easy to flip the pages and makes it seem more casual and user friendly. Being fairly new to watercolor painting I am always hesitant to just pick up my paintbrush and paint in my other sketchbooks in case I mess up. The reason I'm hesitant, is because you cannot just tear out the page in my other sketchbooks. But with my Fabriano pad I can simply tear out the perforated page if I mess up, and I'm not stuck with an ugly page messing up my sketchbook. You simply cannot beat the quality, the performance, and the great price of this Fabriano watercolor pad. Try it, you'll love it like I do, I'm sure.

This sketchbook does the trick. It is not 100% cotton but is definitely higher quality paper than you get with most brands in this price range. I have a set of Fabriano paints, which I love, and is why I decided to try out their sketchbook. I’m glad I did. I truly enjoy using this book. The spiral binder allows the book to lay flat. It also has a perforated edge if you want to remove the page. This is not highly textured paper, and performs well to all types of painting styles. You can see in the photo, I did a background wash in this painting and the paper didn’t warp and dried completely flat. I do recommend this book to anyone who enjoys playing with paints, inks, liners, etc. You won’t be disappointed in your finished creation.

I use this pad mainly for practice and first “draft”. It’s “okay.” I don’t think this paper handled a lot of water very well. But overall, it’s great for starters like myself :)

Very durable and easy to work with.

My normal paper is Bockingford in 11x15 sheets, but I was looking for an inexpensive alternative available in a spiral bound pad for quick paintings when traveling.I have used and enjoyed Fabriano's more expensive papers in the past, so thought I'd give this budget paper a try.I was happily surprised at how this 1264 paper performed. It handles wet in wet with no pilling, dry brush, as well as lifting with no issues. All of those techniques were used in the attached painting, using tube paints.In my opinion, this paper far outperforms similarly priced papers such as Strathmore and Canson XL or Montval.First I ordered the 11x15, then 7x10 spiral bound pads.It will never replace my Bockingford, especially for the work I sell, but it's great budget paper at a very affordable price!

Let me preface this by saying Fabriano is a great paper maker. They make my favorite 100% cotton watercolor paper, and I also quite like their 1264 paper in the PAD form, as it's very good quality for a non cotton paper! So I was really hoping to like this 1264 spiral NOTEBOOK paper too. But no, even though they're still calling it "1264" , trust me, it's a lower quality paper than the 1264 paper that's in the PAD. It does not take watercolor very well, your paintings will look as if made by a 6 year old. So, this notebook is fine for kids in my opinion, that's it. For adults, I suggest the 50% cotton Fabriano Fat Pad.

I’m a beginner at water coloring. Tried some cheap local stuff to practice on. That was terrible. So I ordered this product. Takes water well and evenly. Still isn’t for professionals, I think, but great to practice on.

As an amateur watercolorist, this paper was more than adequate for my needs. It holds up to washes, layering and scrubbing out mistakes. I purchased it a second time because I really liked the texture, the color and the fact that it didn't pill up when I had to re-work an area.
