Motherly Advice for New Christian Wives and Mothers
I wish I would have received this advice from my mother. I grew up in a non-Christian family so much of the advice given was very foreign to me. However, as I have rededicated my life to Christ and now strive to be a Godly wife, I have had to change my views of the world to conform with God's views of the world. This book is a great balance between faith matters and practical matters. I love the section of the book that helps you to create your own personal cleaning routines. There are activities in the back of each chapter with scriptural references throughout the book. I really enjoyed the section that described raising children. I also enjoyed all of the tips and tricks about establishing your household as well as moving it. I will be purchasing this book in the future to any woman that has a new baby or gets married. This is an excellent resource!

Excellent Read for Christian Homemakers
This book is a wonderful resource for any woman who is intentional about being a godly homemaker and has a heart for hospitality. There are a lot of topics that seem counter-cultural and can be upsetting to some, especially those who have not been raised in a home where homemakers are celebrated. But I think it’s a wonderful book full of wisdom and practical advice for the modern-day homemaker. Be prepared to be challenged and maybe even changed by some of the ideas presented. Although some chapters, to me, were a little dated (such as making a files for holiday meals - Pinterest is a great alternative) there is a lot of practical advice to be gleaned from some remarkable Christian women. I highly recommend to any homemaker, both new and experienced.

What a Blessing!
Not since Anne Ortlund has there been such an exhaustive and comprehensive collection of writings that discusses the challenges and blessings of the homemaker and homemaking! This book covers subjects from professional women who write from experience and expertise. I believe if we are to view homemaking as an actual vocation and approach it as such, there must be a paradigm shift - with new knowledge, and a different way of thinking. Our families and homes are in a mess, and it's my desire for people to read and embrace what these authors have to say. I'm planning to purchase more copies and give them to younger women in my family. Take the time to read and consider this book. I don't think you'll regret it!

Much needed today
I am so glad that Pat Ennis has compiled this book! It is as important to our current times as was the American Woman's Home by Harriet Beecher Stowe and Catherine Beecher back in 1896. We have long needed another good guide for Christian Homemakers. While I am one of the "older women" who need to be teaching the younger women, I would highly recommend this book for women in all seasons of their lives. As Christian women, we need to be active in setting the tone of our homes and therefore our culture.

If You're a Born Again Christian, Don't Buy This Book
I bought this book even though I knew the authors were probably Calvinists (heresy), but I thought the material on homemaking would be helpful. However, upon receiving the book I looked in the table of contents and found a chapter entitled "Spiritual Formation through Family Worship." Spiritual Formation is nothing more than New Age worship. According to Lighthouse Trails ministries Spiritual Formation "suggests there are various ways and means to get closer to God and to emulate him. Thus the idea that if you do certain practices, you can be more like Jesus. Proponents of spiritual formation erroneously teach that anyone can practice these mystical rituals and find God within. Having a relationship with Jesus Christ is not a prerequisite." Just that chapter alone made this book "burn material" if the book wasn't so expensive. Needless to say, I returned for a refund. Be discerning!

Masterfully written
I love this book. I already have the other books written by the author(s) and am very pleased with them so it is really no surprise how good this one is. This book goes even deeper in how a Christian woman's heart is infused with God's love and expressed through her care of her family and home. Our homes are an extension of ourselves and this book guides us in all aspects of its expression of this love.

Detailed if a bit legalistic in certain areas. Overall, good advice!
There are certain parts of this book that are quite legalistic, but the core of this book is dead on. I appreciated the practical advice and was surprised by how much of the book isn't only about keeping a home clean and cozy, but how to be the matriarch of your family. It even has sections dedicated to being a step-parent and adopted parent, which is more pertinent now than ever before. My only complaint about this very detailed, laymen's termed book is that it can be legalistic in a very, very few areas. Overall, it holds a ton of wisdom and great advice that just about every family would do good to follow. :) This is exactly what I had hoped a book written by older generations would be passed down to the younger generations such as myself. So grateful I found this!
