Feel Good Love Story
Books like this are perfect for the sappy romantic inside of me. Rachel writes the stories that I want to experience.

Charming age-gap romances
SAPPHIC BOOK BINGO: butch character, unusual job, favorite trope, full-time writer (possibly other categories)Is love enough to risk a career? Lovelife is a bit of a forbidden love, self-discovery story with two quite different main characters. Both lost their mothers while they were younger, and it impacts their lives in different directions. Joey sacrifices college to help her family, and her life stagnates after her mother passes. A crush on a woman leads to her getting the opportunity to put her life back on track, and helps her to find true love. This story has a different feel to it when compared to other stories by Spangler. It might be that it delves into a more serious side, but for me, that didn't take anything away from it.

Classic romance with a twist
A gorgeous young and troubled boi and a gorgeous, somewhat older and troubled life coach are thrown together (professionally) by the boi's well meaning busybody best friend. Boi needs help to see she's gorgeous and can fulfill her destiny, while life coach needs to see she doesn't always have to be Ms Perfect and is not actually a stitched up has-been, despite her best efforts to convince herself.Joey (boi) and Lisa (best friend) are the kind of gals you'd hope to hang out with if you happened to be in Buffalo in winter. Joey can skate like a dream and Lisa is the party girl to get any party going. Elaine-Lainie is the life coach who could put anyone back on track (aside from herself of course). She is conscientious, ethical, beautiful, smart and compassionate. Joey is mad about her. She is mad about Joey. Neither will budge. Lisa is tearing her hair out.Spangler is a lively writer who inhabits the rarified zone towards the top end of the lesfic food chain.Without false modesty she observes that she never intended to grow up to be an award winning author, but hot damn, that's what's happened. It's not hard to see Joey as Spangler's baby sister or unter ego. Either way, this is a conventional lesbian romance with all the right ingredients that's been stirred and baked to somewhere near perfection. Enjoy.

Left Wanting
This book is well written; it kept my interest for the most part, yet, at the end I am left with a feeling of wanting.Wanting more passion (not necessarily sex), more interaction between the main characters that isn't of an analytical nature and more romance.Such a lackluster book would be better served by a different tittle.Three stars because of the quality of the writing.

Very sweet story
I liked the way this story developed. How Joey's character evolved throughout the story line was also sweet and encouraging . The two characters found their attraction building and acted responsibly to the conclusion of the end of the story. Well done!

Excellent!
I loved this book. I loved the story. So many life lessons. I loved the character of Joey. She's thoughtful, kind, smart and lacking in self confidence. I loved Elaine. Great story.

Not bad
This was my first book by this author. It wasn't bad but I was disappointed that by the time the characters got together the book ended. I would have preferred more. Too many unanswered questions I think.

Preparation for "Sweet Hearts"...
Another one I read as preparation for “Sweet Hearts” by Melissa Brayden, Karis Walsh and Rachel Spangler (and having now dipped in to “Getting Serious” in that, I’m glad I read this first).Joey is your pretty stereotypical ‘gorgeous butch with a big heart’ and Elaine the sweet little femme with the proper job (if you consider ‘life coaching’ a proper job; not sure I do…). I almost gave up on this when Elaine started banging on about the differences between one’s “inner critic” and “authentic voice” as I’m afraid this sort of psychological mumbo-jumbo gets on my goat. But, after taking a break with something a bit faster moving, I did return to this and enjoyed it well enough in the end. It is a bit frustrating at how long it takes Elaine to put aside her ‘professional obligations’ as she battles her attraction to Joey, but I suppose that’s an essential part of the story. Not fabulous, but not bad either.

Captivating.
So enjoyed this book , the convulated journey both major characters undertook to try and understand themselves and finally find each other was great. I also enjoyed the lesser characters and how they all fitted in and contribute d to the outcome. Good writing.

extremely meaningful and well detailed.
Got to be one of the best meaningful readings out there. Not rushed in any way. Although I must admit that, I couldn't help think that the character "Elaine" was indeed that of Diane Gaidry...it can only be great if that's the case.
