SAFAVIEH Leather Shag Collection 6' Square Red LSG511D Hand-Knotted Modern Leather Area Rug

I'm an interior designer and have been Hunting for a new rug to put by my own bed, this one Finally fits the bill! The leather's soft underfoot, there was no smell to speak of after a day or two, and it's a wonderful, fresh look. Do NOTE however that clearly this is a use of leftover scraps, think upcycling, and there are weird colored markings sometimes on the back sides of some strips, these get flipped around as the rug is walked on, and someone should Really exert a bit of oversight in weeding these bits OUT before fabrication. Thus my 4-star rating.Additionally the color I chose is called "gold" but it's definitely what I would term "camel" -- so if you're wanting actual gold hues, this is NOT the one for you. I went instead by the photos and was delighted when it arrived as this colorway has just the mix of medium browns/camels I needed (my carpet in that room is a maple-y brown hue).Overall the look and performance are wonderful (have had it for a handful of months now) -- what a Terrific pricepoint too. Turned this lovely, brightly-hued leather rug into a stunning piece of wall art by hanging a towel bar on my wall and clipping the rug to hooks that have an “arm” that hangs on the bar. It’s an instant conversation piece or inexpensive piece of art. Not sure how well it would hold up if used as a rug - it seems relatively delicate.

It’s sheds constantly, and you have to remember that you cannot vacuum that at all

The media could not be loaded.  OK, so new country, new continent and our buying 'expedition' continues: I lost track how many carpets I purchased on this site and most seem to be from Savafieh (reviews written for all) besides lots of pieces of furniture I had to put together in the last weeks.I could not believe the price I saw for this rug and purchased it in grey/white as per the pics/video here: I purchased something similar from a homeware chain in Dubai 15 years ago for the equivalent of 20 GBP and brought it to London in a big plastic bag smiling through security as if I was dragging something very light - I would not do this ever again as I remember how heavy it was then.I was expecting to receive this item in one week, but no, I received it some 24 hours later and paid just under 60 USD for the 4x6 feet, using the discounts you get with an Amazon card - pretty good for something which I noticed in the past decade on different UK sites priced hundreds of pounds.I wanted so much this type of rug, I was seriously considering of purchasing bits of leather and making it myself. This rug, is similar to the brown rug I purchased in Dubai and I have a habit of flicking it in the air in order to direct the bits of leather: I received lots of compliments and many friends wanted to buy something looking like having 'autumn leaves in the living room'.Not concerned about the leather bits that came off, they can easily be glued back onto the rug and I also noticed a bit of pink on 2 pieces which most surely I will either clean and paint back into a light colour - it would have been too difficult for me to make this carpet so altogether I am a happy one for this great value for money for something I really like.

The description says light blue that could throw someone off the color is exactly like the picture has a few loose pieces but I used those to put in a decorative glass with moss and decorative balls I LOVE IT it’s made well and great quality

The media could not be loaded.  The rug is very pretty! It’s prettier in person. However, the smell is really strong and as pictured in my photos it came molded with mildew so it has a chemical mildewed odor. Upon returning UPS store couldn’t find anything to ship it in for a return. Other option was having some Amazon company package it and return it however the return could take up to 3 months. The refund wouldn’t show until they received the gunk heavy moldy rug. That was very disappointing and disturbing as it didn’t take that long for them to take my money. I got lucky and the rep refunded the rug. I have to throw it out because I couldn’t imagine donating rug that’s moldy and have obvious mildewed marking on the leather strips.Nice if it wasn’t sweaty upon arrival. So I can’t say if it was on the shipping company’s error in packing Or the manufacturer 3 stars due to my personal experience.

I bordered on hating this rug because it smells so terrible, it sheds a lot! It looks amazing! It actualy makes me feel sick sitting near it, really terrible chemical smell. The leather strips have a lot of ink on them as well as stamp marks, obviously discards from factory farmed cows. It maked me feel guilty. I have had this rug for three months now and it still stinks, sheds and puts out a lot of little fibres from the leather causing my floor to always look dusty:( As soon I I find one to replace it, its going to the donation bin.

I like the look but the quality is very poor as pieces are falling out. Very poorly made. I would not purchase again. Not worth the money

I wasn't expecting too much after seeing the reviews, and on balance they were spot on. Right out of the wrapping, bits of leather were falling off. Some of the bits of leather that did stay on had other bits of paper, etc stuck to them. Altogether, this product needs some serious quality control from the manufacturer. So why three stars? because despite its flaws, it is still an impressive-looking rug. I bought the black, and it looks lush, full and just striking as shag rugs are striking. As long as you don't move it around too much and don't have pets or kids, I guess the bits should not fall off too much until it starts looking threadbare. So the verdict in summary is, attractive looking, but bedevilled by really shoddy work.

TERRIBLE. looked like a reject from a preschool craft day. Leather pieces all fell out and were of different sizes and shapes. smelled bad. Was uncomfortable to walk on. Total disaster. If I could give zero stars I would.
