New Defenders Vol. 1 (Defenders (1972-1986))

Firstly, like several other Marvel trade paperbacks, the back cover text states the wrong year of these collected issues -1972 when they are in fact from 1983 onwards.These are actually really entertaining and straightforward stories and not the over-complex, convoluted mess of post 90s, angst-ridden comics.What this series excels in is the wonderful character play and dialogue between the New Defenders: Fans of Beast, Ice -Man, Angel, Gargoyle, MoonDragon and Valkyrie will not be disappointed by the witty writing.If you are a fan of 1970s - 1980s Marvel, this will be a wonderful addition to any collection. The artwork may not be to all tastes but I am a huge fan of Don Perlin and Allan Kupperberg's work here.What I want to know is when will Volume 2 be released? It has been too long a wait and no answer has been forthcoming from Marvel when I inquired. I would like to see The New Defenders complete their collected trade paperback adventures.

Out with the old defenders as if they stay together, Earth is doomed !!!!! However luckily there is a new team of defenders waiting to pick up the slack. A rag tag team made up of former X-Men and Avengers and various other characters from all corners of the marvel universe.

The Defenders were always been a non-team superhero group but all that about to change in this graphic novel. It starts with "The Defenders #122-124" where Dr. Strange, Sub-Mariner, Hulk & the Silver Surfer discovers from an elf that the world is doom and they're the caught of it. Meanwhile, Hellcat & Son of Satan are getting married. Then the New Defenders were born in "The New Defenders #125" with the team of Beast, Iceman, Valkyrie, Angel, Gargoyle & Moondragon while the original members went their separate ways. Then in "The New Defenders #126", the Defenders help Nick Fury takes on Leviathan. Then in "The New Defenders #127", the Defenders battles robots. Then in "The New Defenders #128-131", the Defenders must stop Professor Power from starting WW3 and goes toe-to-toe with the New Mutants.Great graphic novel! If you're fans of the Netflix TV show "Marvel's The Defenders", then you should get this book too.

Ein echtes Erlebnis, durch diese alten Geschichten zu blättern! Teils relativ naiv, teils wirklich spannend geben sie Einblicke in eine Zeit, als die drei X-Men Beast, Angel und Iceman, ihre Teamkameraden und ihr breiter Freundes- und Bekanntenkreis drumherum noch Zeit für Romanzen, gluabwürdige Beziehungen untereinander (und ihren Haustieren!) und nicht zuletzt eine Menge Spaß hatten. Das Buch ist auf gutem Papier und in klaren Farben gedruckt, zudem werbefrei - sicher nichts für Hardcore-Sammler, aber für alle anderen eine echte Alternative zu teuren Archiv-Käufen längst verblichener Originalhefte.

A fascinating piece in color reprint if you're trying to get the complete Defenders storyline. A nice contrast to the black and white Essentials line of Defenders comic. The weirdest most fascinating team ups since the short lived Champions title.

Breathtaking remastered printing compared to the old comics! This is a must have for new readers and old collectors that want to "upgrade" their comics collection or read it all over again.
