Another great addition to the Rough Riders series
Rough Riders book #6 Branded as Trouble tells the story of Colt McKay, rancher and recovering alcoholic, and his relationship with India Ellison, tattoo artist and recovering alcoholic. Intertwined in Colt and Indy's relationship are the demons from their pasts as alcoholics, demons that continue to show their heads throughout their struggle to build a relationship of love and trust. Colt McKay was the wild boy of the family for years, so this also tells the story of the McKay family learning to see Colt for the new man that he has become. Indy's sister, Skylar, is married to Colt's cousin Kade; their love story is told in book #4 of the Rough Riders series.I really loved this book; it was flirtatious and passionate, while also being real concerning Colt & Indy's past history. This was the first book I read in the Rough Riders series, and I felt it did fine as a standalone book. I later read this book a second time, after I had read the earlier books in the Rough Riders series, and I felt I had a better understanding of Colt after reading the earlier books. I think a great place to start this series would be book #3 Cowgirl Up and Ride, which is when Colt's wild ways are really introduced to the reader. If you're curious about the Rough Riders series, I've read most of the books so you can check out my reviews for more info.

and poor Colt is still fighting the fallout from his first ...
Colt and Indy are working on their second lives, and poor Colt is still fighting the fallout from his first one with his family. I am so impressed with the way LJ wrote the family part - I am living it, so I COMPLETELY get it. Trust is a hard thing to give someone after having it demolished by them. Having said that, I love that Cam stands up for him and the others acknowledge their shortsightedness as well.I appreciate the effort Lorelei put in to learning about recovery, showing Colt and India working the program, even 3 years later. I appreciate that the story isn't all happy happy. India has a moment where the pull to relapse is incredibly real. I love that they help each other up, as well as holding each other accountable. Read this one. Right now!

Fun, fun, fun!!!
This entire series is awesome! It's fun, serious, and sexy as hell. Though each one is unique, it is still similar. That makes sense since it follows members of the family. Really, it's best if you read the series in order so you get the sequence of events. And, oh my gosh, the first girl born into the family in over a hundred years...how fun for everyone.Lorelei James is definitely one of my favorite new authors. I've purchased some of her stand-alone books and will probably read the Black Top Cowboy series too.

a combustible couple for sure
This is the first book in this series that I found myself laughing out loud on numerous occasions. OMG the interactions between Colt and Indy and how they both tried so hard to stay away from each other but just simply couldn't. I'll admit I was worried about them getting together because the odds of two addicts making it through are not good but these two strong willed individuals set out to prove everyone wrong and they did. I loved how Indy could be soft around Colt and he accepted that side of her. Colt's determination to make their relationship about more than sex made me realize he was in it for the long haul and that he needed to prove to himself and everyone else that he'd truly changed his ways. Most of all I loved how when they worried they'd wasted so much time getting together that they realized it wasn't time wasted it was time well spent getting to know everything about one another on a non sexual level and learning to love themselves first.*Memorable Moments: One when Cam flat out tells his family that they suck for the way they've treated Colt since he got out of rehab. I still get chills on my arms when I read that scene. Secondly, when India stands up to Carolyn and tells her she doesn't know her son at all. Lastly, the scene that takes place between Carson and Colt where Carson pretty much bares his soul. I boo-hooed like a little baby through that one and still do.

Raw, intense and sweet
I’m in love with this series, it’s sweet, rough and brimming with feelings. I cried and laughed and cried some more. The story about India and Colt is a story about two people with a past filled with addiction and shameful actions they wants to forget.I liked that they took it slow and I got to follow all their thoughts and insecurities about each other. This made it realistic. No unnecessary descriptions of surroundingsGood dialoguesThe love scenes is intense and raw and sometimes sweet5 stars

Colt and India deserve supreme greatness!
This is a great version of a friends to lovers story. One of the greatest parts is that it also goes a bit into the mind of a recovering addict/alcoholic. Colt has been in recovery for 3 years now. His sponsor is India Ellison, who is also the sister of his cousin Kade's wife. They are constantly hanging out together on the weekends as well as at meetings. Cole finally decides to make a move and she mostly thinks that he is joking around with her.... until he kisses her and she makes him cum in her hands in less than a minute. They are both pretty hot headed. Colt has this gigantic family that can be totally overwhelming. India also does not like how his family still treats him like he is a big screw up. And of coarse being by Lorelei James.... its super hot!

Colt and India
I loved this book, though not as much as others. I have read books 1-6 straight thru and maybe I need to take a short break? I actually skimmed thru the sex scenes because seemed repetitious. I wanted them to talk more, I guess. Don't get me wrong, I really liked this a lot. Especially like that the rest of the McKay family is always integral part of each book. Happy to see them finally acknowledge the man Colt has become. Maybe a comedy for me and then on to book 7 and beyond!

I've got to say this I think is my favourite RR book so far. Colt is the black sheep/middle child of the huge McKay family. He's the only sibling to stay on the family farm and work it day in day out. It isn't till some of the brothers come home like Cord after divorce and Colby after career ending injury that Carson thinking he's helping give more responsibilities to them without discussing it with Colt. Colt takes this as a sign that his father doesn't trust him or value him so he hits the bottle, drugs and whoring. Which comes to a huge head when Dag die in a senseless way because of booze, drugs and depression.Colt meets India in AA and becomes his sponsors which they then spend 3yrs dancing around each other the it all come out in open after india shots colt in ass with a nail gun (which in the UK u can't do because of a safety pressure trigger but I digress). Most of the McKay family still have this impression of Colt as a useless time wasting drunk but no one really knows the sober quite cowboy that now struggling to find his place, that is till India enlightened them.I love the fight make up sex up relationship that Colt and India have it perfectly suit them and loved their HEA.Can't wait to read Cam fall.
