The Vinyl Detective - Low Action (Vinyl Detective 5)

I love this series they combine humour with great plots and scary situationsLooking forward to the next book, and hoping there will be even more to look forward too!

I have read all 5 of the books in the series & I LOVE them! Back in the 80's I went to & sold & traded at record conventions to make extra money & get new records & collectibles. I usually spent more than I made, but the point was: I built my collection. I was the ONLY female that wasn't some record fiends girlfriend. I was unique! I had a blast! These books brought back memories of my own adventures. The only difference - no one was killed at the conventions! My only criticism of this book is, I fear it is the LAST in the series. If you like records & mysteries, these are fantastic books to have in your library. They're a fun ride. You won't be disappointed.

This is the fifth in the Vinyl Detective series, and, I think, the best of them all. I've read each book on the month of its release (encountering the first entirely by accident in - fittingly - a record store) and I waited semi-patiently for this book to be released. It arrived and sat tantalizingly on my table for three days when I had to work, but, with two days off, I dove in with relish. I finished the book in less than a day, and loved it!The plot is coherent and clever, revolving around a punk band and its "artists". Without giving anything away, it's quite a plot with new characters, as well as excellent development of the old gang (including Tinkler and Clean Head and his on-going - and unrequited - passion for her). Some new characters that will likely appear in future volumes appear too, including Nevada's mother! It's well written, and I had a hard time putting it down while engrossed in the narrative. The story is not predictable at all, which is a good thing. Cartmel has done an excellent novel here, and a fitting latest addition to a series I really enjoy. Now, if only he would get the sixth book out fast...I can't wait!
