It has become my professional bible...
I am a teacher with a special school background and who currently works with ARNA pupils. Despite 28 years of experience of working with children of all ages and abilities, there is still lots to learn...Ms Morrish has captured all her experience and knowledge to produce this book for us; professionals, parents and carers. This is a true gift; where models and theories explained gives us opportunity to identify how our own behaviours impact on the behaviours of the children we work with. The book scaffolds our practical development so that we become the best version of ourselves when working with children, whether it be at home, in school or out in the community. Before starting this book, be prepared to go on a journey where you look at your own responses and state of being in order to model and facilitate what we are asking of young people we work with. Read it cover to cover ,dip in and out, reflect on your practice then read it again. Talking for a purpose will be a central focus of staff meetings and a precursor to your school improvement target setting; the benefits of Ms Morrish’s book are endless and will change the way you view those difficult days forever. I am privileged to have access to this knowledge via Talking for a Purpose on a daily basis and strongly recommend to others.

Most influential book I have read
As a teacher for 15 years, I found this book so thought provoking and interesting. I read it very quickly and particularly found the self reflection sections useful. It is well researched, evidence based and expertly written yet it was written in a way that can be understood. If only I had this book 15 years ago. Anyone working in education of any type, or with children, or just as parents, will find this book extremely useful. Ms Morrish is so inspirational and her book mirrors this. Truly a must read.

Very helpful for my SCITT and classroom behaviour management
Great book written by my Behaviour Mangment lecturer on SCITT (one of her roles). It gave me the added opportunity to really think how the class saw my responses at the times I thought I was being authoritative and actually wasn't. She has many points that we can refer to easily and which really make the world of difference when you need help in managing your responses to improve overall classroom behaviour.

Fantastic read.
If you work with children this book is a fantastic read. It shows you techniques to use in a classroom that really make you think about the words you use and the way you use them. It has areas of self reflection which I found really useful and has made me feel more confident and positive to manage my responses and reactions to the children’s behaviour.

A Must Read for anyone working in a education setting.
This book is a great tool for anyone that works in education. It really makes you look at how your own behaviour in an education setting can have an effect on managing the behaviour of the pupils. Gives you clear advice on what you can do and the results that the changes you make can bring. I highly recommend reading this book.

Fantastic Resource
I am a parent and have been using these techniques for some challenging behaviours at home. There are some ‘very easy to implement’ techniques which have increased my son’s compliance significantly. Addressing my own actions and the way in which I communicate is having very positive outcomes.Amazing book, easy to read.

An amazing and thought provoking book
With 20 years teaching experience, this is the best book for supporting classroom management. It is well written, with plenty of oportunities for self reflection and most importantly it's relatable and a straight forward easy read. This is a must have for anyone supporting children!
