A page turner
An interesting story line that was both suspenseful and satisfying in the end. Wish our real leaders had the honesty and character that the main guys have in these stories.

Laia's comment stabs to the heart
“Firing Point” depicts Jack Jr.’s one-week adventure of shattering an evil plot aiming political/economical disorder in the world. The White Mountain Logistics and Security President, Buck Logan and his engineer, Kate Parsons, contrived to cheat the government sponsored the RAPTURE project, the world’s first true universal quantum computer. They developed the TRIBULATION computer, extracting every ounce of information and insight from the RAPTURE project. The survivors of the iron syndicate acted as their tool. From Barcelona to Knoxville, getting Gavin Biery’s powerful support, Jack’s many-sided activity is outstanding as usual. As the background of this episode, Mike Maden picks up Catalan independence movement. Maden reminds us of modern Spanish history through the conversation between Jack and Laia Brrossa, a CNI agent. Laia comment, Spain was one of the last countries in Europe struggling with women’s equality, stabs us to the heart. While enjoying vacation in Barcelona, Jack came across with an explosion incident, in which his friend was involved. Jack undertook his persistent research to find the truth. On the other hand, the Ryan administration detected a suspicious marine accident in the South Pacific. A chain of the accident spread to other oceans. The culprit even planned to abuse the larger joint Chinese-Russian naval exercise, Snow-Dragon, to ignite the Third World War. Maden’s plot, unrelated various incidents, at first glance, gradually converged on an evil plan, is exciting. Jack was vividly surfriding on his story, while the President Ryan showing clear-sighted leadership to every incident. Thanks to Gavin, Jack found out everything was connected to Logan, launched an attack of smashing Logan’s evil design. The scene Jack reported his findings to his father, the President, is thrilling climax of this episode.

So much non stop action and plenty of suspense
Clancy will be remembered for a very long time as one of the best writers in this century. He writes with a great amount of technical details and plenty of interesting characters to travel around the globe with enough suspense to keep you interested to the end. I miss him and Ludlum. Thanks

Good for spare time reading, better than some Jack Jr's
I don't remember how high I rated the last "Jack Jr." Clancy book but this one is better than some of them have been. Jacks still unlucky in love (maybe worse than usual), still getting best up and having close calls. Despite that it's a pretty good way to spend some free time. Lots of action, lots of detail.A few things are still implausible …Jack still travels the world without being recognized. The bad guys are identifiable unsung recognition software but they never seem to have their own. Jack seems to just sail on through not being recognized by any man or computer (as if a beard would be enough to fool a computer) …it's never explained how the enemy can't accomplish that too. The bit about the "real" bad guy is just a bit weak too. Some people might actually feel that way but they don't generally have any way to achieve the goal. Jack saves the day with a plastic rope on a vehicle winch …I've never seen a winch with a plastic rope, just steel cable. I have a feeling that he'd need a longer rope/cable than he had too.Good way to spend some spare time, I don't think I'll re read it very often.

A Quantum Ride From Spain to TN
Incredible ride. Everything you hope for from Jack Junior and his Senior. Pride comes at a high price for young Ryan as he treks across Spain in an effort to avenge a friend's until death. And as luck would have it, Jack saves the world from self annihilation, while thinking faster than Quarks! This story reads like a Fast n Furious race that picks up a feverish pace as the Quantum Systems build up super fast-thinking steam of their own.Don't skip this one. It's Maden's best weave, yet!

Not good value.
I have bought hundreds of books from Amazon, but have never left a review because I feel that everyone's taste is different. But this was not value for money and since a paid more £17 for it, and with at least 20 pages blank or with a date only, I am inclined to be less than happy. The story is weak and not worthy of the Tom Clancy cover headline. Jack Ryan junior is being painted as a pubescent thug who will not comply with laws of any land, and his father should long ago have retired from the White House, having been there for 26 fictional years. Even his character was weakened by this storyline. Perhaps the time has come to stop cashing in on the ghost writing experience and to let Mr. Clancy rest in peace. Sadly, the storyline about a quantum computer could have been a good one.
