Complete CBS Recordings 1966-1972

well first off what helps me give this 5 stars is the fact that this GRAPEFRUIT release comes in a nice sturdy clam shell box unlike some other recent releases under the cherry red label & family labels of recent collections that where made cheaper and not as nice in product quality like this set was done, anyway the title says it all, you get six full fantastic great remastered cds of ( i would say) everything the TREMELOES recorded between 1966 when CBS took them on right up to the end of the band and the CBS contract, as we know this outfit started out back in 1963 under a slightly different name and some of that stuff from 63/65 is not included here , as we say the real meat and potatos of there career is all in this box set and i think unless you are a super super die hard fan in this box is everything you will ever need by the TREMELOES, its all here on six fantastically remastered cds with a very nice booklet that comes with this that has a fantastic essay & photos from there career and photos of great 1960s memorabilia from there heyday, i cant say the TREMELOES where my favorite of all the great killer 60s british bands, i mean they did not stand up to THE WHO, THE KINKS, STONES, YARDBIRDS, they seemed to more or less stay at that pop level, as for the who & kinks they where so loaded with such loud feedback and distortion in the mid to late 60s as where the kinks in the mid 60s & the stones, yardbirds etc etc had a very heavy blues influence and oriented sound as did so so many others in the uk at this time, THE TREMELOES had a more british pop sound of the 60s they really did not seem to ever let go of but as i said i do like this outfit a lot, again this is a high quality packaged clam shell set with great remastering & the booklet i mentioned for anyone into or was into this band......

Wow! Another fantastic box set from Cherry Red/ Grapefruit Records - the Amazon description covers most everything. Total time of the 6 discs is 7 hrs. 30 min. Very even playback volume levels between all songs. Windows Media Player correctly identifies all songs, + lists songwriter credit on discs 3-6. Back of clamshell box lists all songs by disc, & box fits on my CD shelves just fine if I rotate it top side out. Individual cardboard sleeves list song titles, composers, LP or single source with month/ year listed. I’ve got only the first 2 albums on vinyl, & it’s been at least 50 years since I’ve listened to them, so all these songs are basically all new to me & quite the revelation as to how good so much of their stuff is. The more I listen to the Tremeloes, the more they remind me of a UK version of The Turtles (there’s also some Association in their music, especially their Four Seasons’ cover of “Silence Is Golden”, & a bit of the Small Faces in some of their later stuff). A must have for anyone growing up during the ‘60s.

It would have great if the record company had gone back to the original masters and spent some time in converting the mono tracks into real stereo, Eric records in the USA seem to manage it, very disappointed with this box set
