Once you start reading , you can't stop...
Having spent far too many years (post motherhood) reading tacky chic lit I was a little apprehensive that Jo's first book ( A Means of Escape) may not be my thing. However, though I struggled initially to get into it and get established with the many characters it wasn't long before I was hooked and left wanting more of this gritty drama. I couldn't wait to find a quiet few hours to get stuck into this second novel and I certainly wasn't disappointed. From start to finish I felt totally involved in the book and loved all the detail and sense of reality gained from the wit and descriptions which lead me down several exciting and twisting paths to the killer. It's a very cleverly book written book which keeps the reader totally gripped and challenged without being totally gruesome, as I always imagined crime books would be! The characters are really brought to life and you can just imagine being part of it all.I just couldn't put this book down and sat from 7.15pm til' 00.25 totally engrossed (good for me, as nothing usually keeps me from my sleep after 10pm!!!). I will certainly be recommending this to everyone I know, it's a great read and I'd just love to see it on TV so I can see if Brown really meets my expectations! Eeny Meeny Miny Moe
DS Kate Linton is part of the team investigating the murder of Lauren Hampton, former supermodel and local celebrity. As well as the murder there have been several particularly nasty rapes in the area mainly of women who have just been shopping at supermarkets. The murder victim herself seems to have been a thoroughly unpleasant character and there are plenty of secrets within her family which may or may not have contributed to her death. Kate finds herself attracted to one of the suspects - Lauren's son, Mark Hampton but her boss, Rob Brown advises her against getting involved. This is a tense and very readable police procedural crime novel in which the fraught relationship between Linton and Brown provides an interesting counterpoint. The characters are all well drawn and the suspense is very well done especially the nail biting ending. I particularly liked the way all the apparently disconnected threads are gradually interwoven and I thought the theme of domestic violence was treated sympathetically and realistically.Joanna Price is an author to watch in my opinion and I shall be looking forward to reading her next novel in the Kate Linton series; the first book in the series 'A Means of Escape'.

Enjoyable thriller
Have now read both of Joanna's books in the Kate Linton series - being local to the Glastonbury setting myself, I particularly enjoy the references to the location. I enjoyed reading the second book in the series - it flowed well (though often veered off on a romance subplot between Linton and Brown which didn't really add to the plot and distracted from the suspense). Characters well-developed if a little obvious. Look forward to the next book in the series!

A gripping read
Although the prose isn't the best I've ever read and we have a lot of profanity between police colleagues (are the police really as abusive to each other as this?) the plot is a good one. There were a fair few twists and turns and although the suspect turned out to be who you kind of suspected it would be - there are lots of secrets revealed that were surprises. Will try another of her books.

A great book that will keep you guessing!
An excellent follow up to A Means of Escape. It was great to reconnect with Kate Linton and the team of detectives from Glastonbury. The ending was a complete surprise. I like the local references having visited Glastonbury on more than one occasion. I hope this get picked up for TV as I'd really like to see the characters come to life. I'm also hoping there is a another book in the future so we can see if the relationship between to the two lead detectives is going to grow into something other than working relationship.

Great characters, good story, bad sex
The characters in the book are really well described, and their interactions are mostly very believable. The story is interesting, a few separate strands coming together to make a very satisfying denouement. The switch of the perpetrator from nice to nasty is extremely well captured. the only thing I didn't like was the 'romance'. Too many longing looks, heartfelt sighs, and imagination of 'hair drawing the eye downwards' for my liking. Cliches all round. Shame really, as the rest of it was a good story. I may try other book by this author, but the erotic bits should add to the story, not detract from it.

Great writing style makes this a page turner
I really enjoyed this book, and read it over two nights as I felt engaged with the characters and the plot. There was a good back story, a good couple of crimes under investigation and two great police characters. I would definitely look for another book by this author once I've finished all the other books on my kindle!

When I started reading this book I could not quite ...
When I started reading this book I could not quite see where it was going but as I progressed I found it to be compelling reading and not wanting to put it down till the outcome.
