Happy Valley - Series 2 [DVD] [2016]

Sarah Lancashire is a must see as Catherine Cawood. Sally Wainwright's writing is brilliant. Siobhan Finnerman shows what an incredible actress she is and James Norton is so evil as Tommy Lee Royce. If you loved the first season, the second will not disappoint.

I love the plot minus the profanities, of course. You can’t beat Sarah Lancashire as an actress. She’s fantastic as are the supporting staff. The only issue is I could not figure out how to turn on the subtitles this time and we are totally lost because of all the mumbling. I’m sure they may have the same issue if they heard me speak lol! I’ll keep trying

See my season 1 review - all I posted is the same for season 2.

For a long time, I thought I had already seen this series but couldn't remember anything about it, so I figured it wasn't that good. Once I got started, though, I couldn't quit. The acting and characters are impeccable ~ far better than most series actors. Each prime character is developed with depth and even empathy. I was often frustrated with a character when one of their flaws came about but that actually worked to make it all the more real.

One of the best crime series on TV. Extremely well-acted with believable characters. Dominating Season 2 were 2 repulsive murderers, albeit with totally different personalities, played by leading British actors. The interplay between the saintly but troubled policewoman Catherine and her well-meaning but totally messed up sister Claire is also beautifully portrayed. I assume Acorn will soon make Season 3 available; not to do so would be a big disservice.

Suspenseful! I can't wait until Season 3 is available here.Poor Catherine! She can't catch a break! What is it with stupid people continually asking her, "Are you all right?" I had the thought that it was probably good that the police there don't carry guns!Solid performances by all - especially the young man who played Ryan.And Mr. Moseley?! Wow!One reviewer complained about the accents. Gee whiz! Even though I, too, lived in the UK for years, I was grateful for the subtitles because I didn't want to miss any of the dialogue.

top notch police drama

It's a good, the acting is impeccable, the story and themes are ugly, brutal, but realistic. My only complaint about this show is the continuing thread that men are weak, cowardly, more often than not evil and that women keep society on an even keel. The first season was written describing law vs crime, but now the man vs woman theme is coming through very plainly. There is a third season in the works or just released, if this theme continues it would likely not bear up the series.
