PORTER-CABLE20V MAX* Oscillating Tool (PCC710B) and Jig Saw (PCC650B) Bundle

Works very good
I used this Oscillating Tool to cut some countertop and also some wood on another project and it worked as expected. I did not find that the vibration was bad as some reviewers reported. The blade exchange mechanism worked well. I did buy an adapter for use with other brand Oscillating blades. One advantage is that Porter Cable 20v Max tools can be slightly altered to use Black and Decker 20v Max batteries (I am unsure about the DeWalt 20v Max batteries). I have 6 various B&D 20v Max tools. I did purchase one Porter Cable 5Ah battery as I only had one BD 4Ah battery (the others are 2Ah) and I did not wish to make alterations to my new tools until I was sure that they worked and that I liked them. I also purchased the PC Cordless Oscillating tool which uses the same batteries, and I have a PC reciprocating saw that I did alter to use the Black & Decker batteries. I altered the BD chargers to accept the PC batteries as well. Those alterations are easy with a Dremel tool and merely requires cutting away some plastic. I think it is a shame that the Manufacturers of the B&D, PC and DeWalt tools intentionally make slight changes the fit of their various batteries to attempt to force buyers to purchase otherwise identical batteries. If either B&D or PC made all of the tools you need then I we could buy either brand, but B&D makes yard tools that PC does not make and PC makes some cordless tools that B&D does not offer. Makes us feel like Chumps! Beat the system...get our your Dremel Tool!

I am sick of companies preying on customers
And that's why I am placing a picture of the manual. This tool is unnecessary more expensive for the average customer than a seasoned one. This is not a professional tool. You must have a COMPATIBLE battery. Yes it is understood it comes without one--hence the low price--but that's the bait. You MUST purchase one of the compatible battery otherwise no all of the V20 MAX batteries will fit because engineering reasons. It must be one of the following:PCC680L, PCC681L, PCC682L, PCC682, PCC683/PCC683L, PCC685L.Surprisingly, these are NOT universal. Lowe's had the last one for $69.99. The charger was another $39.99. So if you do a little searching, soon you will find that if you happen not to have one of those above, you end up paying anywhere between $40-$110 more just to have the privilege of using the tool you bought at such low price. Bottom line, get a corded one that comes with more blades and stuff and you will end up paying way less than P&C baiting system.

Overheat Shutdown in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...
The media could not be loaded. So I just got the Porter Cable 20v Oscillator 2 hrs ago, since I have the power drill and impact wrench. It would be nice to use the existing batteries. Dead wrong. I read and watched the bad reviews after I ordered it and hoping I would luck out.I used it to cut a metal wire rack. Nothing much, right? Wrong! I even used brand new Imperial Blades with Titanium tips and 3 minutes it kept on shutting down. Usually do to overheating, a fail safe on how they wired it up. Or, it could be a horrible motor and or wiring. So I am not the only one that this has happened to. How can a company stand by a product this bad for so long and have done nothing to correct the issue. You give a company a chance to do it right and they turn their backs on you.If it did work however, I would say it is super light, vibration without the blade is none existent but with the blade its not too bad. It has a good amount of noise when turned up but bearable. Grip is not too girthy. Quick and easy Blade release. All in All, it would be ideal if it worked properly. Either the motor or electronic board is subpar. How on earth can you manufacture something so simple that Porter Cable couldn't spend even 1 hour to test these for quality assurance.

INCREDIBLY useful tool with questionable durability...
This is a tool that I find incredible useful. I’ve used it as a Chinese saw to trim moulding when installing flooring, for metal work on my truck and for sanding. It makes some very challenging work easier. My issue is that despite relatively infrequent use (I’m a teacher, not a contractor), it broke after about 6 months. Turn the switch on resulted in the light coming on but nothing else happening. I looked at the warranty and it appeared to be a pretty basic 1 year coverage which would require me to send it out and wait for it to be repaired and shipped back. Not something, that I was willing to do given the time this would take. It would be much more convenient if they allowed you to swap it out at a local retailer (Lowe’s carries porter cable). Given the time constraints I decided to open the tool up on my own and see if there was anything obvious. I should have taken pictures because it was quite obvious. One of the main power wires came unsoldered from the battery terminal. Given the high vibration in the tool, they should look to beef up their connections. Anyway, I was able to fix it, but given the weak looking connections, I may look elsewhere for my next budget friendly tool.

Worked great until it didnt
I’ve had this a little over a year, it worked great until it didn’t, it stopped working after about 20 light uses, just days after the 1 yr warranty expired. Low quality tool. I would rather hack up a wall with my sawzall then buy another one of these POS.Update, this has a 1 yr, then a 3 yr limited warranty, the 3 yr is useless, you have to pay to have it looked at , $39.99 + parts, at that point I didn’t even bother to ask about labor charges. Bottom line, if you buy this, hopefully yours will stop working before the 1 yr warranty expires or you can just see it as a spendy disposable tool and get a new one every year. As for me, I will buy from a more reliable company.

It works wonderfully..
This is the third one of these I've purchased. The first one demised due to an accident that would have killed any tool. The second expired after attempting to use it for 2 hours non stop without giving it a break. That said... This is a LIGHT DUTY oscillating tool. It works wonderfully... But again.. It is LIGHT DUTY. As long as you use it for short spurts and allow it to cool down between uses, it works great. It's versatility as a cordless tool makes it worth the slight consideration of not trying to use it like a high grade corded commercial version.I recommend this tool.

If you own the PC 20V batteries already, this is a must have.
Not much to compare too. Literally the only oscilating tool I have ever used. Using it to cut a whole to put in a bathroom window, cut through the drywall no problem, and having to go a little slower, it did not have much trouble cutting through the plaster board and wood strapping underneath. Did it all on one battery charge (window is roughly 2'x3'). Now that I own this thing, I can see it becoming one of my go to tools for most jobs around the house. Really is one of those things most people have no idea what it is, but once you try one out you have to have it. The ability to plunge cut wood, drywall, and even metal is really unique and handy for a lot of applications. Excited about having yet another sanding option to my power tool collection, the triangular sanding pad should be really handy for tight spots, although I have yet to try it. When running it at full speed the tool does get hot very quickly which can't be good. The case it comes with is very cheap and is just for the attachments, not the tool. Still giving this thing a 5 star rating as I think it is so cool, and if you fancy yourself a handyman and have already invested your money into Porter-Cables wonderful 20V platform, pick this thing up and you will love it.

Good product! Recommend.
Please note there is no battery included for the tool. You need to buy the battery separately. The tool is very good. I have used it to cut wood board, tile grout, etc. It works great! I'd recommend this tool for anyone who likes to DIY at home.
