THE WHITE RABBIT

Good service and better than expected book.

My other half first read this book nearly 60 years ago, when he was a young squaddie in the army. It got passed around the barracks and eventually disappeared. A second copy was purchased some years later and again it did the rounds to colleagues and disappeared. This third copy I purchased for him and once again he was lost in the storyline. He says it’s still an excellent read, a true story and this time he will be holding onto it.

Wing Commander F.F.E. Yeo-Thomas, aka “The White Rabbit,” was a British agent who parachuted on three occasions into Occupied France during WWII.His job was to attempt to bring together the many and varied factions of the French Resistance under one cohesive group in order to make them more effective in their resistance efforts.After two years he was captured by the Gestapo and eventually sent to Buchenwald where he underwent unspeakable torture.His grueling ordeal is told in vivid descriptions and leaves one to wonder how any human being could have endured and survived such suffering, sickness and torment.This could have been a 5* read but I was disappointed that not even one photograph of Yeo-Thomas was included and more importantly the printing of the text in this edition is so poor that it made it difficult to read.
