Wilton4" x 10" Magentic Maple Jaw Inserts (63143)

I initially intended to build my own wood vise liners for my garage built bench but did not like the component approach to the vise parts I found at Woodcraft and decided to take the easy (and lazy) road. I purchased a good quality bench vise from them and HOPED these liners would protect my projects and, most importantly, stay in place!I have used them hard for three separate projects now and I can say with no reservations that they are a great product and do exactly what they are designed to do. The maple liners have not marred anything I have clamped down on and they have never slipped. The magnets appear to be high quality and show no sign at all of separating from the wood part of the liner. One thing I didn't think about and really like is that I can remove them from my main vise and use them on another steel vise temporarily. I was using another steel vise at a higher location and even though these liners were bigger than that smaller vise, they worked perfect!At this point I am comfortable stating that, if you simply don't want to go through the task of custom building your bench face vise, using these along with a good quality steel bench vise is a reasonable and quality alternative.

Nice product but it didn’t work well in my bench vise. As you can see, it slides down since it is setup for a much larger metal contact area. I ended up ordering some neodymium magnets and chiseled a recess into some scrap wood and that worked very well. Wilton should consider doing something similar or clarifying the type of vises this is intended for.

Good product, but magnets are weak, I inset button magnets and works great now.

The magnets are almost useless, very weak.. I foolishly scraped some of the paint off my vise thinking this would help the magnets hold better... But didn't make any difference at all. I won't return them, but not a great purchase.

The magnets are not strong enough to hold onto the metal jaws alone, at least when it comes to not moving around. I still had to screw them in place. I would just make my own next time.

Very well made, with magnets that work to keep pads in place. They were a perfect fit on my Jorgensen vise, highly recommended.

Great for avoiding marring metal, wooden or plastic items with the metal jaws that come on woodworkers' vises.
