I purchased this RetraxONE MX in July 2024 and installed it in September. Out of the box there were already problems: a missing end cap seal and a packing defect where a cork pad had been placed in the wrong spot, leaving a puncture in the cover (though not all the way through). I was willing to let that go — the puncture was small, and uninstalling the whole thing just to return it wasn’t worth the hassle. Unfortunately, the bigger issue is the supposed durability of this product. Less than a year later, the cover looks years old. It has three permanent white wear marks down the center where it rubs when rolled up, and the entire surface has become wavy and warped despite being rolled out 90% of the time. This is not a truck that sits in extreme conditions, and this is not what you expect from a premium-priced “scratch-resistant” cover. When I contacted Retrax, they admitted the marks and wear are caused by the polycarbonate expanding and contracting in normal temperature changes, which makes the cover rub inside its own canister and scuff itself. None of this is disclosed in the product description. In fact, the listing promises “incredible scratch resistance” and claims the design “prevents this hard-cover from scratching or damaging itself from daily use.” That is the exact opposite of what actually happens. Instead of standing behind their advertising, Retrax told me I could pay $210 under their pro-rated warranty (or over $800 without it) to replace the same defective rolling section — with no guarantee it wouldn’t happen again. That’s not support, that’s just charging customers twice for the same flaw. Bottom line: This cover is overpriced junk. It looks terrible in less than a year, doesn’t live up to its marketing, and the warranty solution is a joke. I wouldn’t recommend this to a junk yard, let alone anyone who cares about their truck. Save your money and buy from a company that actually delivers the quality they advertise.

It took 3 trys to finally get the right one delivered. But had some friends install it and love it. It's a little tight to slide open, but that should be able to be adjusted. Very happy with it so far!

I haven't had the top long enough to say if it was worth buying. I live in Minnesota and the weather right now isn't good for a lot of outdoor activity. That being the case, I have used the roll up top very little. However, when I have used it, so far it has met or exceeded my expectations. We'll see how well it works when things get really freezing cold, snowy, and ice covered around here. That will be the true test. I'll know more by April.
