Book 8: Alcohol Mantle Lamps (Non-Electric Lighting)

excellent book for a lamp owner/user, not collector.
Very good information. If you bought the other books in the series, i supposed you may think as i did, that some information is the same in every book and redundant filler but, on second thought, it has to be there for 2 reasons.... 1) if a person only buys one book or 2) if the volumes were combined, the redundant info could be edited out but the result would be a book in total that cost a lot more. So, all in all, this book, and even entire series, is an excellent resource for lamp owners except for people just wanting collector information. These books, for the most part, are just the nuts and bolts of how to understand and mantain the type of light source in the specific volume. Id love to see the author do a book loke this on calcium carbide gas lamps.

Carefull, you may get hooked
I never thought about non electric lamps until I read this. I now own two coleman quick lite lamps that I am restoring. I found this book full of detailed information on kerosene, coleman fuel, and alcohol lighting. I am going to try converting the quick lite lamp to burn alcohol, per the instructions supplied in the chapters. I really enjoyed this book.

Very informative
Answered all the questions I had about alcohol lamps. I was unaware of the variety and options available with alcohol mantle lanterns. A great education on the subject.

Another informative book by Ron
Well, so you can run a Coleman lantern on alky? That's good to know, because I'm sure I could distill up a pot of torpedo juice easier than a barrel of kerosene after the SHTF.
