Barrel nut timing is a seldom spoken topic in DIY gunsmithing, but it's crucial for safety to to achieve the proper torque setting of 30 lb to 80 lb and also time up the barrel nut to the gas tube without interference.I was changing out a barrel and this was the first time this has happened to me where the barrel nut was not timing properly with the gas tube. My options were under torque it or over torque it to get proper alignment. One Shem was the trick and after cutting one slice in the ring so it timed up with the notch in the barrel and the receiver I achieve perfect alignment and torque on the first step.I was very glad that this was available so fast and allowed me to reassemble everything, now it's time for the range to safety test everything.

These shims are great for fitting a 1-inch barrel w/ sights installed to a receiver, without having to break the soldered sight mounts and reposition the front and rear sights. I replaced the barrel on an antique Mauser. The replacement barrel didn't quite align with the receiver, so the sights were off. These shims allowed me to alight the sights and properly torque the barrel to the receiver. These shims are very thin, and its near impossible to tell the difference between .001, .002 and .004 thickness, as they all look to be the same thickness. All 12 shims doesn't add much thickness, so if the threads on the barrel are course, you may need to use several shims to take up the gap. Overall, these shims are decent for the price, but I wish the range of sizes included a couple of thicker shims so I didn't have to use 7 thin ones for my application.

This fit perfectly on the outer barrel for an airsoft M4 replica. Now the barrel nut can sinch down securely to stop the outer barrel from wiggling.

These will fit between the barrel nut and barrel to properly index hand guards if you have an alignment problem. This is a much better option than trying to overtighten the barrel nut or leave it a little loose to get alignment. There’s enough thicknesses to find a good fit

These are always required for indexing barrels to handguards correctly if required

I haven’t used the shims yet but they look ok. It would have been nice if they would have separated the sizes.
