Q: What size screws do I need? They didn't come with any.

You are correct, these and a lot of our items do not come with screws or fasteners as the description says. We sell them all separate, as every application is different. Some customers need longer screws, shorter screws etc. Some customers rather use rivets or trunk nails etc. So we just have the lower prices and sell them with no screws and the customers can get the exact size screws or fasteners that they want/need. Most customer can get what they need a local hardware store too. #6 size should work for all the butler tray hinges. -- just see how thick your board is and that should determine how long you will need, make sure you do not get ones that are too long that will pierce out the back side. Q: when you open the table the groove to lock open the hardware where can i find?

I DON'T UNDERSTRAND QUESTION. THERE IS NO GROOVE IN HIINGE. THE HINGE WORKS GREAT AND WAS PERFECT MATCH TO THE ORIGINAL HINGES

Q: Can these be surface mounted or must they have room to be flush mounted?

I suppose that you could surface mount but they would interfier with a nice smooth surface. Routing the surface to allow a smooth finish. The bottom of the hinge is not absolutely smooth as there is a feature that holds the hinge in the open position and the routing will need to accommodate that depression.
