This is a great bookcase. It’s very easy to put together and very sturdy. The shelves are attached to the frame so you can not change shelf sizes. That’s ok, because I wanted a strong sturdy shelf for my heavy school books. The bookcase to an hr to put together by myself. The set suggested anchoring to the wall, but I have not decided to do so yet.

In the time it takes our 16 year-old to complain about and then ultimately complete the dreaded task of doing the dinner dishes, I was able to assemble not one, but two of these shelves. In case you don’t have a contrarian teenager, that would be approximately 70 minutes. The boxes arrived in good condition and while one had a 4” tear on the side, the styrofoam packaging kept everything free from mars and scratches. The instructions are basically illustrations, but it’s pretty straightforward to put together even without instructions. The metal frame is sturdy and I even considered not attaching the cross pieces to the back but in the end decided the added strength was a good idea. I opted not to use the pieces provided to secure the shelf to the wall. The shelves themselves are roomy and hold a large selection of hardback books without any sagging. They are a nice height and the decorative touches on the frame and thicker top piece add to the attractiveness of the piece. If you’ve read the description you already know these shelves are not solid wood but they look quite nice even close up. Sure, someone might notice while browsing your books or looking at your knickknacks that these are faux wood, but if they snub you or gossip about it, I suggest keeping the shelves and trading in the friend. You need more space for books, not criticism. Anyway, I think you’ll be happy with this product if you’re simply looking for a nice piece to display your books and such. Enjoy!

Love this little shelf! I put the heavier mixing bowls on the bottom to help it feel more secure. You can anchor it to the wall but it has held up fine, even when my 15# cat decided to jump up on the top shelf. Shocking, I know. He was testing it for me

It goes without saying that you should expect cheap materials on cheap furniture. Having bought cheap furniture before, I can see this is on the high end of cheap construction. For example, the wood grain paper that is pasted over a surprisingly dense MDF board looks surprisingly good. The shelves are well cut, and arrived in good condition. The frame, though again hollow and cheap, looks good and feels sturdy. I am comfortable loading the shelves with books, plants, and other decor. A guest looking at this bookshelf in the living room would not be put off by it.However, the screws that comes with the shelf are cheaply sourced and prone to strip. The cross bar on the back didn't lay smoothly on the frame and the entire bookshelf was wobbly once built. We fixed it by placing a sturdy piece of cardboard under the foot. It's hidden and no one will ever know the difference.For our immediate needs this was perfect. We're saving to buy a house in two years and want to make our current apartment feel homey without springing for pricier furniture pieces we'd place in a forever home.

Definitly easy to ensemble. I (a girl) finished all by myself.Price is affordable and it doesn't look cheap. the color looks more expensive than its actual price.can't wait to buy more plants and stuff to decorate it!
