Q: Will this rock on a carpeted floor or just hardwood?

I have not used it on a thick carpeted floor however I have used it on an area rug and it rocked just fine. I don't see any reason that it wouldn't work on a thicker carpeted floor though. There is enough curve to the bottom "rockers" that it should work just fine!

Q: Can one purchase just the cushion cover?

I am not sure. It came with the chair. DLH

Q: Can this be used for working at a desk with a computer?

We had to rebuild this chair because it had no seat, so whomever sat in it fell through. No, I wouldn’t use this chair for anything important that requires you to be either steady or secure. If my brother, a former millworker and engineer hadn’t installed a new bottom and back, this rocker would have ended up in the trash.
