Was skeptical, but towed trailer with boat behind and all worked well, the hitch base did turn a little but may not of had it all the way tightened. Did tighten it to recommeded specs but maybe should of re tightened before leaving the campsite/lake, as when we arrived at the destination all was still straight, . other than that easy to install, very light weight easy to lift out. Turning radius is greater than standard 5th wheel hitch

Great hitch , installed in my 07 3500 dually. Simple set up works great, used to haul my 40 foot fifth wheel.

We are towing an 18k lb toy hauler and it is very able and reliable. The mount is light weight and it takes approx 5-10mins to install and secure.

I have used a Reese 18K hitch in my one ton pickup for nearly ten years. I pull a 16k pound, 40ft fifth wheel trailer. The Reese has been dependable and issue free other than routine maintenance/adjustments and lubrication. Ten years ago I had little issue with lifting this heavy hitch into my truck and then sliding it into the locking position over the four "pucks" mounted in the truck. Now that chore has become a problem to the point that my wife and I were close to selling the trailer. Last year a friend showed me his new fifth wheel and this funny looking hitch made from aluminum. The argument was that it was clearly much lighter than the Reese (100#) and easy to use. I researched and then elected to remove the existing frame hitch and install a new gooseneck retractable ball hitch, frame mounted. Once installed the Andersen hitch system is a snap to attach to the new gooseneck ball and coupler box on the trailer. Andersen makes the excellent argument that the hitch is light and easy to lift which is true. However, other benefits include the easy hookup and release and the quiet travel. The Reese can be a bit difficult to engage and release given the reach to access the safety pin after the jaw is engaged. I either used a ladder or jumped onto the side of the truck to reach. Now I just turn the cable handle and push in the pin while I stand by the trailer. On the road there is no squeaking or creaking from the hitch, just a smooth solid feel. Now I look forward to another 10 years.
