Exact replacement for my Primo XL

I was a little reticent given how pricey this is - but, is brilliant, works exaclty as promised & this one was fitted to a regular BBQ hood (not a Primo) given that so many of those common hood gauges really suck. And this guage can be calibrated by a screw at the end of the probe, also perfect for any generic hood gas BBQ - most of the other themometers have a screw on the surface of the dial itself, made for smokers but cannot be mounted flush on a BBQ hood.The calibration inparticular works perfectly although I was initally a little confused about the 0C and -18C below that. Of course the gauge will show the ambient temperature when the BBQ is not in use, and so will always sit a little above 0 (unless you're working in the tundra).Another tip: so easy & accurate to calibrate in ice water (half fill a small jug with ice, then add water); hang the gauge over the jug rim and set the calibration to 0C. That's it. If you really want to double-check 100C by faffing about and hanging over steam & a pot of boiling water, the end result will be the same.

When I ordered it I thought it was a drop in replacement, Did not realize I had to make the opening a bit bigger for the probe to fit.At first I was concerned about drilling into the ceramic Primo. I knew if I took my time it would work.It worked out and I do like the features and the size,

Easy to calibrate this is a good replacement for the old unit. Enlarging the new hole took less then a minute.
