The Joker 1

Impressive and true to the character
Folks I will say that this was an excellent read. It stays true to the unpredictable nature of one of the greatest villains and character creations of all time. People that compare you to a child if you like the story like some reviewers, forget that opinions are like many things...... Everyone has them🥳. So insults and opinions of others aside, if you like the joker, and you like solid writing, I think you'll have a great read. The art is solid, and it's a solid story. Lot of room to turn it on its head or keep going and create a truly exciting series with future releases. Enjoy😊

The Joker….
This was a good read….….I am a little disappointed because I believe the story could be better yet it was a low key kind of excitement. If you think it is worth the money or your just curious, buy it and read it for yourself and make your own, conclusive opinion.

Best Joke Yet!
What line do you cross? When do you cross that line? If you were given an opportunity to get rid of your demon that showed every night when you closed your eyes, would you? This is the main plot line of one of James Tynion IV new spin-offs from his ever-growing Batman run. Out of the Joker War and Infinite Frontiers, the Joker has seemingly disappeared, or been killed, or went to outer space, or something. Batman does not have everything he use to, Gordon is retired and trying to recover from the death of his son, Barbara is helping out as a central information center (her old Oracle position) as she figures out how to deal with the cost of what being Batwoman has done to her ability to walk, and Gotham is recovering. This is broken by a nerve toxin similar to the infamous Joker Gas that kills 500 inmates, guards, nurses and doctors in Arkham Asylum. It was so deadly because it never caused a single laugh. Seemingly, the Joker has returned. But this is not James Gordon’s problem. He retired. He is done. Of course, like many who retire from public service, he has no clue how he is going to afford retirement, but he can not keep going through what being on the job meant.Until, he receives an invitation from a mysterious lady named “Cressida”. With the latest attack, there is a certain person who will fund outrageous amounts of money (including a nice 25 million for when the job is done) if Gordon will go after The Joker and do something Gordon has never done in his career. Murder him. Now, Gordon has to look inside and decide, is it worth it? Is the money? Is the peace? At what cost comes murder? This series is off to a great start other than the name. The book should not be called The Joker. It should be called Gordon. It is, after all, more about Gordon’s wrestling with inner demons caused by The Joker, influences on him and the hunt than it is The Joker. In fact, through the first three issues we barely even see the man himself! Now, when he finally does show up, Tynion does not let the audience down by bringing the full bore, crazy plan within plan and wheels within wheels Joker to bore on anyone who goes up against him. And, as usual with James books, there are many facets to this story where things are never what they seem, and every time you think you have it all figured out, he throws you for another loop to where you have to keep reading. His writing is brilliant, just be prepared for more of a thought comic than action.Luckily for us, he brought along great artists also to bring the vision to life. After seeing what has been done with some comics lately (here is looking at you Harley) I was worried we would see a more playful bright side, but the world is the dark, hard-edge Gotham with characters to match, even when going to Belize and the sun, it still remains an air of gloom in the art to fit the story perfectly. The new Joker series is definitely a perfect addition after Joker Wars, and is more on the interesting, and never given enough credit, character of James Gordon.

excellent overall
Just enough sadistic surprises but not over the top. Definitely not a Batman focus which is refreshing. Really enjoyed the read and the art!

The Joker!
Fresh take on the character. Can't wait to see where this leads. Tynion continues to be one of my favorite Batman writers and he never fails me. The art is top notch as well. Good plot points. I am definitely buying more of this story line.

How insane it is.
An awesome crazy story better than all Joker stories.

Trail of the devil
Got to say this book is a lot better than I was expecting. I thought the Joker War was going to be the biggest Joker story, but the Joker is just getting started. This book picks right where Joker War left off.The only thing worse than chasing the devil is catching him. Jim Gordon has been hired by a mysterious benefactor to kill the Joker. Not catch but kill. Also it looks like he is not the only one. This book proves once again the Joker is the premiere evil in Gotham. Jim will have to relive his everything the Joker has done to him and his family. Also the Joker's biggest plan is yet to come.Great story, artwork and a huge prelude of things to come. The story starts out by calling The Joker the boogeyman and the devil he more than lives up to both monikers. The book (apart from the bonus stories) finish on cliffhangers for all, and introduce the next generation and established Gotham underworld. Yet the Joker us still a leap ahead of everyone. The final bonus story is the Dead Ringer from the Joker War.

Great Jim Gordon and Joker story
Batman takes a back seat and Joker and Jim Gordon take center stage. Tynion writes Gordon extremely well and the artwork is simply stunning. Looking forward to the next volume.

Amazing
My only complaint is that it ended. Ha ha ha ha! I've breathed in the Jokers laughing gas. If you're gonna go, go with a smile.

Cheesy and childish.
Cover art is deceiving. Inside garbage. Don't buy it. Buy something else. Unless you are a 10 years old kid.
