Q: what is importance of hexane in preparation of epo

Hexane is a chemical, toxic to humans and animals, that is used by some companies to extract oils. It is much cheaper to use than the much healthier cold-pressed or expeller pressed methods. Companies that use hexane do so because they can squeeze more oil out of each batch, thus cutting costs. Unless the label says "cold-pressed," you can usually assume that hexane has been used. And the label of "hexane free" only means that most of the hexane solvent has evaporated, but not all, only enough to be deemed "free." They really should say "virtually hexane free" if they were being accurate. Nature's Way ONLY uses cold-pressed for ALL their oils, no hexane or any other chemical compounds. And they do not source their oils from China, like NOW does. I use NOW to compare because it is wildly popular here on Amazon for its cheap prices. With oils, though, you get what you pay for.

It is most often used for period regulation, hormone regulation, help with getting pregnant etc. But it is an oil, similar to fish oil in that it can have a positive effect on other things, cardiovascular and even recommended for diabetic neuropathy.
