It can hold weight!
Loads of great info in the other reviews, but I thought I would add this pic to show how much weight it can hold. This is my Canon 5D MK2 with a 70-200mm IS USM Lens. No problem.I love the way the legs extend outwards to allow it to go lower and not be as top heavy, genius. ]I love this product.Hope this helps.

A wonderful piece of solid and ingenious engineering
First, measurements, as they are important :Product is : Velbon Tripod EX-mini, 30172Full STEADY height : 42cmLowest height : 19cm (press the side clips on the links between the legs and the central column to flatten out the legs)Packed height : 26cmIt is such a good quality backpack'able tripod I had to write about it.This mini-tripod feels very solid, packs superbly into even small mini-backpacks, has rubberised feet and all the features of a full tripod. It is a wonder of high-quality miniaturisation and engineering, and fantastic for anyone who wants to carry a quality mini-tripod in their backpack while on (spotting) trips. It is so good that I somehow feel lucky to have found it !

Lightweight and versatile, with quality build
I have a full size Velbon and this was to compliment the set-up. Light enough to stick in the Lowepro bag, has been superb in allowing me to get close up shots with a sturdy foundation. With the legs being adjustable in various directions it is possible to get those close to ground shots that I had to handhold before. Very pleased.

Looks good, but fragile construction
I received this item today and was disappointed to see that light weight plastic components have been used for the strutts that hold the legs in position and the sliding mechanism. Considering that this is likely to experience a lot of folding in and out whilst travelling and will normally hold bulky, heavy and expensive equipment, I wouldn't expect this to last more than a few months of routine use. This item claimed to be £32.99 reduced to £18.99 and so I expected better quality components to be used in it's manufacture. Needless to say, I am returning it. If all you want it for is for infrequent indoor use or maybe you're setting up a semi-permanent camera for vlogging then you'll be fine but for anything outdoors, I can't see it surviving very long. I'd be interested to know if anyone who has given this a good field test had any issues.
