Good Quality, Slightly Small in Chest/Upper Arms
The material and construction seem very good. The fabric is light and breathable (and not overly shiny as some synthetics are). The design is functional, and I like the style. The only criticism stopping me from buying several more pairs is that it's a little tight in the chest. The fit is otherwise as expected for a large, and every other aspect of the sizing is good, including the width of the shoulders (I'm 6'2'', medium build). However, when I reach my arms forward, there's a distinct constriction in the back/underarm area. Trying a size up might help, but I'm concerned it would be too baggy elsewhere. Also, the sleeves become a bit tight around the biceps when rolled up. My biceps are not particularly large, so those with larger arms may have a problem.

Does not breath well!!!
This shirt does not breath well!I'm not an especially sweaty person and I've had to take this shirt off twice and switch to a cotton shirt while out in the sun. Why? It just doesn't breath or wick well.Found myself in the low-humidity high desert of the Mountain West at about 80 degrees in the sun. This shirt held moisture against my skin. It was clammy and gross. Switched back to a mid-weight cotton shirt and was fine.I love the fit, I love the style, I love the color. But it fails in the breathability category. Which means it's useless.I bought this because it had great reviews. But after reading deeper into the reviews it appears that Mountain Hardware has made significant changes to this shirt over the years and for the worst. Different material bend and fewer vents than it once had. I cannot recommend this shirt.

Not nearly as good as in the past
I have been buying MH's Canyon shirts since the early 2000s, and while they have evolved over time, this is probably my least favorite version of it to date.As others have mentioned, the fit is quite different from the past. I ordered the same size as I previously had and it is distinctly tighter under the pits and across the chest -- and I still have one purchased 5 years ago to directly compare with, so it is not just a matter of memory (it's just starting to fall apart, as these things do; thus the need for a replacement). My biggest complaint is the pocket size. They keep getting smaller -- and they have now shrunk the point where my phone (G7 ThinQ) will not fit in any of them in any secure fashion (won't zip, can't be buttoned in). Heck, I can't even fit my hand in the zippered side pockets. Very disappointing alteration from previous designs and basically useless for carrying trail gadgets. But some pros: the fabric is lightweight, breezy and dries super-quick if it gets wet, just as before. Looks nice, though the weave pattern is not my fav (your mileage may vary). Only 3/5 stars for warmth, not because it's "bad" on that front -- it's just that this shirt has never been designed to keep you warm. Quite the opposite. So for my money, I will definitely not be getting this version again for sure. If you want a better Canyon shirt, find one from a few years ago or wait for the next redesign. Sorry, Mountain Hardwear -- you can do better.

Great shirt. Sizing is strange.
This is the second shirt I've tried from Montain Hardwear. The first shirt I ordered was an XL which when wearing it I felt like I was trying on a child's shirt. So I returned it for an XXL which now feels like I'm a child wearing a grownups shirt. The arms are so long that I have to roll up the sleeves all the time. Which kind of defeats the purpose of having a shirt with sun protection if I can comfortably wear it to protect my arms. I feel like there is a huge gap in size between an XL and XXL there almost seems to be a size missing. From the other shirts I wear Monutain Hardwear's XL feels like a L and their XXL feels like an XXXL. I really like the look and texture of this shirt I just feel the size is way off. I might have to get the shirt tailored otherwise it might just sit in my closet.

Solid.
Great features such a as zippered hidden pockets, button flapped pockets, roll up sleeve closures, doubled up collar for full neck coverage, sunglass retainer; good ventilar and nice weave. It’s nicer quality shirt than the Columbia silver ridge but I do think the silver ridge is a better value. This shirt does have a more refined look to it though. If you can pick one up on a modest sale, it will last you a good while and great for hiking and travel.

Nice, well made
Seems to be well-made, although it's made in Vietnam not the USA as some reviews I read online suggested. Sleeves are easy to roll. It has an interesting double collar design that looks good and keeps the collar from slouching, particularly if the fabric is damp.Fit was what I expected; I wear medium T-shirts and the medium size fit well. It's a mildly "athletic" cut and smaller than those from LL Bean, Cabelas, etc., but similar to other "hiking" brands.

Fat people can hike with this.
I'm 6'1", weigh 280 lbs., and had a terrible time finding comfortable hiking gear until now. This shirt is both comfortable and breathes well. The sizing runs a "tad" tight in the gut (my problem, not Mountain Hardwear's), so if you have a larger gut you might want to go 3XL instead of 2XL. Also, the shirt is designed to convert to short sleeves by rolling up the sleeve and buttoning it to the shirt. Unfortunately, my arms were too big (muscles got in the way, of course lol); however, you are still able to roll up the shirt and still be comfortable. I don't plan to wear this shirt in the hot summertime anyway, so this is really a non-issue.Overall, this is a fantastic product for bigger people to get into hiking and feel comfortable.
