Great bag. The middle section is large enough to hold your tools and other bits and bobs you wish to constantly have when your on your bike, and the panniers on each side can be release, great when you do some unanticipated shopping on a regular shopping trip if paired with an appropriate rear carrier such as the “Topeka rear tourist” you can put a standard pair of panniers on the lower pannier babe, the bag on he top and and also use the bags panniers giving the ability to carry more. The MTX system also ensures everything secure.June 2021Not had the bag that long but both top zips have come off the tracks which makes the bag unusable

I've bought 3 of these over the years. They are the most convenient and easy to use pannier for a bicycle. You can carry it like a bag when you lock the bike, up without looking like a cyclist carrying a pannier, either with the handles, or the shoulder strap. When you have a lot of shopping / gear ,the two side panels expand out and down, and the top compartment expands up. How to improve it ? Add a second small elasticated pocket inside the top compartment at the front or back for coins or keys. Flaws? Not really, but you need a compatible rack, and they're not cheap.

Its a nice bag but smaller than I expected although the sides do have small panniers that fold out. Its nice and sturdy and the materials used seem of good quality. With the correct pannier rack the bag is secure and won't slide around. I have the rack and it is good quality however when you add the cost of the bag and the rack its just under £100 which makes it fairly expensive. Yes its great quality but would represent better value based on its size if it was less expensive bearing in mind you need the rack with the MTX slide

I really like this bag. To look at, it doesn't seem all that capacious, but unzip the sides, and suddenly you have full size panniers.The main bag is sturdy and well padded, and has a zip that lets it expand a little. You can just about fit a cycle helmet in there. The panniers don't have padding, but they're quite spacious.Rather than fixing on with straps, this bag needs a special rack with a channel that a shaped panel on the bottom slides into. It's then secured by the yellow catch at the front. Once attached this way, I see no chance of it coming off by accident.The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is that it doesn't have a dedicated fastener that I can use with a lock to secure it to the bike. Since the catch is so quick to release, I don't like the idea of someone being able to swiftly steal the quite expensive bag if I leave it on the bike. It IS possible to use a really thin steel cable lock to fix it in place, if you loop it through the handle or somesuch.Or, use the shoulder strap and take the bag with you.It's a really good bag, and, I think, worth the money.

Overall an excellent bag, plenty of storage space that can be expanded when required. The quality feels very good but as I've only had it a short time I can't say how long it will last. I did feel the price was high but it does feature the mtx system to connect to a compatible rack quick and easily. It would be better if there was a built in locking mechanism for the connection to the rack as it is easy to unclip and remove. The bag suits my commute as I can take clothes, change of shoes and laptop, the bag also stayed in place in the pothole ridden roads around here. I believe this is the largest option trunk bag by Topeak and it is worth getting as the panniers fold away when not needed, similarly the same for the expander on the trunk bag itself, making it closer to the smallest size without panniers and expander. All in all, I am very pleased with the item, perfect for a commute, day trip or quick shop run.
