For the price, hard to beat. It's my daily driver for now....
I recently began seeking to replace an old Redragon K558 "tank" that I bought a little over 2 years ago. There is nothing wrong with the K558, but it was my first mechanical, it is noisy due to Blue Outemu switches, and technology has generally improved as well as my budget to get a new one. I had a small wish list of what I was looking for: full layout with keypad, red or brown switches which are hot swap, dedicated multimedia keys, full RGB and a wrist rest. I started with Redragon and broadened my search up to the $125 price point including Razer, Corsair, etc. Along the way I stumbled across the Red Thunder K55. It looked good on paper, but I was still skeptical due to the low price of $40. After ordering one, I have to say this plays above its price point, with a few caveats that could use improvement.Pros:1. Very quiet linear red switches. They are smoother and quieter than the Redragon I ordered with Outemu Reds. The switches are Jixian Red's which are hard to find information on but have a 20 million keypress rating. Compare this to Outemu and Gateron which have a 50 million rating, and Cherry's or Razer's which are 80 million. After doing some research, the heaviest typists hit the same key about 11k times a day, so a 20 million rating would be about 5 years of use. I doubt I will have it that long and the ratings are just estimating as many keyboards last much longer.2. Detachable padded wrist rest. It has a solid plastic base with a padded "pleather" wrist rest. Very comfortable and the plastic frame makes it very sturdy.3. Dedicated multimedia keys. In the upper right it has back, play/pause, forward, and a dial for volume control and mute. The metal knob also doubles for RGB control.4. RGB LED lighting. Full color backlighting for all keys with the usual patterns.Cons:1. RGB lighting is weak. Even at its highest point it is a little dim. Not horrible but compared to other keyboards it is noticeably weak.2. Wrist rest does not secure. It is not magnetic or have any latches. The rubber feet keep it in place nicely, but I will probably install some Velcro or something to keep it aligned with the keyboard.3. No hot swap. The Jixian Reds are soldered to the board.Overall, it is still a very good board at this price. The typing is not near as noisy as the old blue switch keyboard, and gaming is responsive and smooth as red switches should be. I like the motion on these better than the Outemu Red's I tried. This board is not going to win any product of the year awards, but for day to day use or someone who wants to get a mechanical without a mortgage, it might just fill the bill. It's like a good pair of Converse compared to Nike's: very comfortable and a good workhorse that won't rob your wallet. The Razer's and Corsair's of the world are great, but this board just works, period. Hopefully it will have some durability as well.If I stumble across a high-end board that meets my needs, I may move on but for now this is my daily driver with no regrets.

Excellent all around
It's my first mechanical keyboard and everything feels smooth. The red switch keys live up to the rep. It seems easier to press than my old membrane keyboard yet feels more impactful. The wrist rest was one of the biggest things that made me get this specific keyboard and it was well worth it.

Well rounded keyboard
It is altogether a nice keyboard, full RGB and a bunch of other stuff for 30 dollars but sometimes a key stroke double clicks and that is a problem if you play rhythm-based games, it can mess up your streak

Good price
Could be better, I feel like sometimes doesn't receive more than 2 or 3 keys at the same time, and gaming, that's really important.

Started Smoking
I was watching youtube and kept smelling something like burning popcorn so i was looking outside and going in the kitchen to find nothing, until I return to my computer and keep watching, then heard the sound of it disconnecting and reconnecting to my computer, and the LED's were messing up, when I looked at it I could literally see actual SMOKE coming out of the keyboard.

A good keyboard but not the one the serious gamer wants
We thought, wow, a gamer's keyboard with Red Switches for half or a third of the price of a high-end gamer's keyboard. As usual you get what you pay for. What you get is, to be sure, a very good keyboard. The Red switches are quiet for mechanical switches and don't make the loud clackety-clack our two high(er)-end Razer keyboards make. The keyboard is complete, with nothing missing. The lighting is what you'd expect. We're not big fans of cycling lighting but lots of gamers are, and this one does well in that regard. It also comes with a very nice wrist rest, an extra not usually supplied. So what's missing? The feel and responsiveness. We won't say the keys are exactly mushy, but compared to the solid high-end keyboards, they are soft and don't give quite enough tactile feedback for the serious gamer. They're quite fine for ordinary typing, but when you need that crisp, definite feel, and especially "n-key" capability, this keyboard does fall short. This leads to a 4-star rating, and we'd say the keyboard is great for the casual gamer who doesn't have to worry about top performance. It's also good for just about any typist. And it's a great value for the money; just don't expect French champagne performance from a craft beer keyboard.

Very nice keyboard but lights are a little dim and keys a little close
Even though I don't game, I use a gaming keyboard because they feel better and last longer. Coming off a Corsair K55, I wanted to try this one. My first impression is that the feel on this is nice and while it does make a noise, it's not clicky and it's not loud, which is important for working from home. My next impression was that these keys feel a little bit closer together than on other full-size keyboards. Not significantly, but noticeably to where I'm still hitting a wrong key once in a while after two days of fairly heavy use. I will get used to it though. This does have anti-ghosting (holding one key doesn't prevent another from registering) and the keyboard rest is actually very comfortable. The lights have a multitude of options, none of which requires extra software to be installed, but the light is on the dim side. The media keys and the knob are prominent and so easy to use. If the rest of the keyboard was as bright as the media keys, I would give this a 5. Still, if you're looking for a gaming keyboard at a really good price, this is definitely worth the purchase.
