Well written. Organized, progressive thought throughout with light humor.
This is a very well written book on freeze drying food. Author well-versed in the technique and can relate it well. Easy to read, useful and enjoyable for a book on techinique and food processing.

Where do I begin...? First of all, the helpful information in this book, when properly and concisely worded, MIGHT fit on the front and back of a standard sheet of paper, 11 point, 1-inch margins...MIGHT. Most of it sounded like a chatty Cathy telling you in a convoluted and overly wordy way, how to freeze dry. Only the last 25-30 pages contained any useful information. A full two-thirds of this "book" are spent repeating places you can take the freeze dried food, things that happened to the author, why you should freeze dry, etc. Not much in the first two-thirds of the book is helpful or necessary. Now, concerning the format of the book:1. The book is only 5" x 8" with wide margins and double spaced. So, if it were written like a normal book, it would contain less than half of the pages this book has. The author states, "First off, this book in print is spaced with plenty of room to take notes so that you can highlight (I'm a highlighter) and you can add your own insights." If I wanted a notebook, I would go to the dollar store and get one for a buck. I didn't need to pay over ten dollars for one! Most "chapters" are only 1-3 pages and the last page of each often just has lines and spaces for taking your own notes.2. The page numbers go from 1 to 55. Then, on what SHOULD be page 56, the numbering begins at 2. Out of the thousands of books I have read, this is the first book EVER that has done this! The numbering doesn't make sense.3. Only the last part of the book--about 25-30 pages--has any information that MIGHT be useful when using the Harvest Right Freeze Dryer, IF you have the medium machine with four trays. Even that takes 38 pages to get to.4. I'm not a real fast reader, but I read this cover-to-cover in about 40 minutes. Of the helpful information contained in it, most can be found on the Harvest Right website, the materials that come with the freeze dryer, or in online chat groups FOR FREE!!!If I could give this book negative stars, I would. The author's two freeze drying books together MIGHT be worth a few dollars. These were obviously not run through a professional publisher and if they were, it's time to get a new one, Bonnie!

Thinking about buying a Freeze dryer? Read this book first.
We’ve been thinking about buying a very expensive freezer dryer unit but weren’t sure about all the “ins and outs” of owning and using the appliance. This little book answered all our questions. It was a quick and fun read. The author has a sense of humour. If you are looking for a freeze dryer cookbook, this is not the book for you. And yes, we are going to invest in a freeze dryer.

Some good info
I bought this book expecting a bit more than I got. Most of the info can be found on the Harvest Right site or on Freeze Dryer Facebook groups. One positive is having a paper copy for reference of what can be dried. This book could really be cut in half though -- most of the actual information was in the last third of the book. It was a really short read.

Basic
I found this book very basic and could have covered all that was written about in the Freeze Dryer manual. It might help others out, but just didn't assist me. Well written and plenty of diagrams
