Fun but ...It does not last very long.
Unit graphics are outstanding. Game play (battles) are good all in 3D, but terrian is not up to par, you can only play scripted battles no quick battle set up against the AI. No siges or forts to defend. The game was designed to play as multiplayer I think.

Early iron-age battle excitement
Legion Arena offers great re-playability because you can select different units and try again.Roman warfare through the end of the republic playing as Rome, and slightly into the empire playing as Celts.Your "fame" depends on the choices you make.

Legion Arena
This is a worthy Roman-era strategy game, but it is no equal or better of Rome: Total War. The graphics are good, and, in my opinion, the appearance of the soldiers is actually slightly more accurate to history, and more visually appealing, than the Total War troops. It is hard enough to give you a few headaches, and a sense of accomplishment when you win, but not extremely difficult, and its kind of one of those games that once you beat it you rarely, or never play it again. You cannot play the Celtic campaign until you have beat it as the Romans, but the Roman campaign is longer and more challenging.Unlike a lot of strategy games, this in one in which all troop types truly do have their own well-defined roles. In most of these games I have found that a certain type of unit, usually your archers or heavy cavalry, can beat just about anything if you have enough of them. In this game, archers and skirmishers are of limited use but it is very important that you have both experienced heavy infantry and cavalry; the former are useful for when you have to destroy an enemy army; the latter are useful for when you must accomplish a particular goal quickly.Finances permitting you can raise new units of light militia, archers, skirmishers, elephants, light or heavy cavalry, or a variety of spearmen and legionaries (or swordsmen and naked fanatics for the Celts) at any point in the game, and can customize their names and the colors of their clothes and shields. The naked fanatics are another useful unit (and are the sole reason for this game's mature rating) but the elephants are not nearly as much fun as the total war elephants.

MORE! Please!!
This is really a Great concept. Building an army from scratch and choosing which option for the army develop when it increased experience. Problem is Fame is really USESLESS except in healing troops. The campaigns, though lots of battles and great history, once it ends the game really ends. THERE should be option for random battles of U vs the computer. Also maybe create an option for creating a Rebel army with Spatacus. What about really re-creating a battle but in a lesser scale and let u fight it out. If they would combine the game of Legion Arena with Chariots, stratgy and combat they would really have a great game system to expand on. Over all I would give it a 4.26 for fun but the fun need to last more!
