Q: What's the difference between the 10" and adjustable size? Thanks

Not positive but I think the adjustable will rotate the rod holder 360 degrees at the base and the 10 inch rotates at 90 degrees. I have the 360 and I did pay extra for that feature.

Q: Installation can you install a single Rod holder with out the track

According to the manufacturer's literat\ure, this Adjustable Rod Holder is compatible with Cannon, Bert’s, and Traxstech TRACK systems. It does not say it can be mounted without a track.

Q: Strong enough for halibut?

I use them for fishing halibut but I have lever drag reels and circle hooks. I set the reels before the strike, turned on the clicker, and allowing line go out without to much torque on the rod holders. This also allows you to easily pull the rod out of the holder not having the fish pull to hard. Once in hand, push the drag past the strike and pull, fish on! These are solid rod holders and I love them! Mine are on 12” tracks since I don’t need to move them much back and forth on the boat.

Yes, this Cannon rod holder will fit/work in a Traxtech rail track system.
