Good start up book
Its simple enough that you don’t get paralyzed with information overload, with clear actionable steps to get started. I feel pretty confident with the basics to get started on the right foot. Not much trouble shooting or specific ideas, however. Will require more research in areas of more specific interest.

Great info, an easy read.
This book provides a very good info base for beginners. It breaks down the different steps of tank choice and set up, cycling, choosing fish and tank maintenance into easily understood processes. The author also provides info on best species for beginners as well as how to expand and enjoy your hobby with others. He concludes the book with a review of the subjects covered that very neatly ties all the info together. I recommend this book to anyone, beginner or experienced, interested in furthering their knowledge of fish keeping.

Great for beginners.
When I bought my first aquarium over forty-five years ago, I had no knowledge about fish only the excitement of watching their colourful bodies gliding in the tank. This book would have been so handy. Firstly, I wouldn't have made so many crucial mistakes and lost some really expensive and beautiful pets. This is indeed a great book for beginners. It covers every aspect of the hobby and will heighten the excitement without the risk of losing valuable pets. The following are great advice,"You actually should not change your filter media often... when you change out the filter and sponge cartridges you completely destroy the primary source of good bacteria in your tank " And "A simple kitchen sponge cut to fit the filter holder size works perfectly fine."The choice of fish is also solid advice. This is a really good book for beginners and it's easy to follow. If I were to add one thing it would have been a section "What to do if" but with the wealth of information provided the author may have seen this unnecessary. For me it was a refresher course and a trip down memory lane.I received a complimentary copy of the book.

Quick and helpful read for people looking to get freshwater fish/aquariums
Most people get a fish or two and a small tank on an impulse or for decor, and oftentimes that doesn't work out well. Most of us don't know anything about filters, heaters, or even whether the pH level of our tap water matters. This book covers much broader range of necessities as well like partial water cleaning (fish can easily die of shock if you dump a bucketful of new fresh water). This read will clear most everything up before you go get a handful of expensive aquarium equipments that might not be what you need.

Basic book
Bought this as a research tool into setting up and aquarium but it was very basic and a very slim book - not worth the price. There are other books out there that do it better.
