I read the first edition of this book in graduate school as it was required reading.
It is the essential primer on how beauracracies function and dysfunction in policy making and policy execution. While serving as a graqduate fellow at the Department of State I saw its principles in action countless times. It is not popular reading for the average person, but if you are part of or interact with the U.S. government this book provides invaluable insights.
