Very good IF you have a plan
This was my first time to use a Michelin guide. First obvious difference to other areas guides: it's more expensive. This is justified however by the breadth of information; many guides just provide information for certain places or areas. The Michelin guides allow you to look up a place or area and make a personal choice. And this is the bottom line for Michelin guide users: they're for people who want to travel more independently, less dependent on the recommendations of the guide's author(s). The Michelin guide does provide subjective ratings on places to visit, but again the breadth of information let's the reader decide whether that location is really something they want to do (and not simply some place "everyone" visits). There are a lot of maps, but they're generally what you see as inset maps. If I have a complaint, it's that the guide doesn't have a good area map. Instead, Michelin wants you to buy a separate map. This is an extra expense, the naps don't seem easy to find, and I don't need a road map (too much~ info), just a detailed area map

Good comprehensive guide
Detail and breadth of information useful, strongly recommended. In conjunction with information from local Tourist Information offices the region is well served for a visitor wanting to know what's there. Not just a map.

Excellent comprehensive guide
We are planning on driving several back roads through Normandy, and this book has been indispensable for our planning. It’s packed with great information!

Thorough but Dull Guidebook
Covers a lot of small towns that other guides don’t but writing is somewhat dry and stilted.
