Prime-Line U 9427 Maximum Security Combination Strike, 11 In., Stamped Steel, Heavy Duty (Single Pack)

This item is exactly as advertised. We had a break-in a few years ago and one of our doors (frame included) was severely damaged and had to be rebuilt. The carpenter suggested this strike plate. We should have had him install one on all of our exterior doors at that time, but it did not occur to us because our other exterior doors are in plain view of the street and the neighbors - who would break in those doors? Well we were recently told by police who came to our house to investigate a second burglary that kids looking for gold to sell for drugs don't think rationally. The police discovered that the theives tried the back door first, but because it had the Prime Line Double Strike Plate they were unsuccessful in their attempt to kick it in. The front door however was easy pickings. Needless to say my husband has now installed these heavy duty strike plates on ALL of our exterior doors and we feel much safer now.

Used this to hide a previous hack job on an old entry door. The locksmith was going to charge $40 for essentially the same item.

I bought this brass plated steel strike plate because the existing strikes looked worn out. When I unscrewed the old plate I realized that the screws were only about 1/2 " deep into the door case. I think that I could have easily kicked the door in if I wanted too. The new plate came with longer screws (4" I think) that went through the door case and into the 2X4 behind it. It looks great too!

Peice of metal successfully pieces of metal. 5 stars. Locked myself out twice and had to kick in my own door twice and this part did not budge. Door and locks shattered first.
