Trying something new
As a 16 year homeschooling mom, we have left Saxon and are trying something different with my youngest. So far so good after 5 lessons! I didn't necessarily dislike Saxon, we just needed something different for my 12 year old daughter who struggles in math.

it is very easy to do
Horizons Math is based on a spiral scope, meaning it slowly introduces new subjects while still letting the student master previous lessons. This is a religion based curriculum that does have references to Christianity throughout. If you are looking for a secular curriculum this is not it. However, if you do want to use this without teaching the religious side of it, it is very easy to do. The pictures your child will make on graphs of coloring in the blanks will be related to Christianity but you do not have to read scripture. All in all the curriculum has worked well for my daughter, she seems to be a little bored at time with all the references to Christianity and always having to do basic addition even in sixth grade for the begin review, but the she has learned a great deal from this curriculum. How ever the teacher guide has become a little lacking over the years as well as the Christian references have greatly increased and I'm not entirely pleased with the curriculum as I used to be.
