Q: I have a 1995 Ford Explorer and the engine temperature gauge doesn't move. Will this fix the problem?

I had the same problem on a 2003 Ford Taurus. I replaced this sensor which did not fix the problem. I then found my car has a second sensor behind the hoses, the SW5174. That did fix the problem. Worth checking to see if you have two sensors as well. You should be able to see the part number on both of them.

ford parts tells me that part number is dy1145. hope that helps

No it will not. It will also cause the engine to idle higher than normal to warm itself.
