I think it's terrific that Amazon is allowing greeting cards to be sold on its site. The cards by NobleWorks are not just your ordinary, run-of-the-mill grist you can buy just anywhere. These cards are special. First, they're attention-grabbing because of their size. The receiver of the card is not likely to toss it in the trash as soon as the celebration is over. It will get placed on a shelf to be displayed.Second, they're brightly colored, glossy, and sturdy. They're printed "on-demand," but don't imagine some kid is printing them off on some ink-jet printer in his mother's basement or in his apartment over his parents' garage. These are every bit as professionally printed and constructed as the big name greeting card manufacturers. Plus, they're "eco-friendly," as the cardboard they're made of comes from recycled paper.Third, you have the choice of having the inside of the card printed "as is" -- i.e., with its slogan -- or left blank, allowing you free space to write what you want.Finally, the care with which the cards are shipped is beyond extraordinary. The cards I've ordered have arrived in over-sized boxes with air-bladder strips for protection. The cards themselves (and their paper envelopes) are encased in a clear, sealed plastic envelope with a stiff cardboard insert for added protection.
