Crackshot Men's Snake Bite Proof Guardz Gaiters

What is good protection worth? Explained.....
Review from MR C.I spent a long time researching different options before ordering these Crackshot "bite proof" gaiters.First off; this is my first time purchasing gaiters. I concluded, why spend money and not buy from a proven manufacturer and are still made in country+++. The extended lace cover panels were also a big factor in my decision. Good coverage.Far from the cheapest but not the most expensive either. Still more than I had intended to spend. This was easier to justify compared to the headache of being treated for a copperhead bite. Knowing this, even your wife may say; "just hurry up and buy them" like mine did.Ordered Large and they fit great. You certainly know they are there but not uncomfortable. Sure your legs can get very warm in the hot weather.. That's expected. The interior panels feel strong against punctures.. A nice rugged outer material. The straps and clips seem to work well.I primarily use them for working in one area of the property without the added task of constantly scanning the ground covered in thick leaves and downed branches. I still do a quick scan. Just not every step now. Looking forward to using them for a long walk in the woods and along the river one day.Time will tell on wear and tear. Judging from the build quality, I am not expecting any premature surprises. Will update if anything changes. Thanks for reading.

Comfortable
This review is a little premature as I have not yet worn them out in the field. My purpose is writing this at this time is to discuss the fit. I'm a decent sized guy with some what thick caves. So finding gaiters that fit can be some what challenging at times. I bought a set of 3XL Outdoor research rocky mountain gaiters once which just barely fit. They worked great for the application which was walking around in some snow but was a hair tight. So I was skeptical about the fit of these guard gaiters but I ordered them anyways thinking I could at least modify them to fit me.Anyhow, I received these a few days ago and tried them on first thing. The gaiter wraps around my leg with extra material to spare. It could easily accommodate a slight larger leg size. This includes still being able to over lap eliminating gaps and securing your legs. My next concern was the straps, was they going to be long enough to reach around and connect. The top strap being the one that wraps around the largest part of the leg, the caff, still has 1-2" of slack. The bottom of course has double or more. (wearing typical blue jeans) One could easily make strap extensions if need you need another inch or two.Again, I haven't walked around with them much but they're light weight and seem very comfortable. Quality seems decent but not sure how well they would hold up to consent usage. I'm not sure I would use them if I was one of the people working inside the snake pit at a Rattlesnake round up but I think they will work great for hikers and people occasionally out in the field.

Good for the price range
These are a good value in their price range. They are 2x as much as some and 1/3 as much as others. They are essentially bendy pieces of plastic sown into a tightly woven synthetic fabric. They are well made and mine have no loose strings or unexpected material hanging off. This is important for the type of territory you'll probably be walking through if your in snake territory. They protect roughly the top half of your foot, but leave the bottom half and your toes exposed. I recommend a sturdy pair of shoes/boots underneath to minimize the risk to this area. A steel or composite toe box would be even better. I'm a fairly short short guy (5'7") and these come up right below my knees so I feel pretty protected in that regard. It's hard to see a snake striking higher than that. They have tight seams to allow a better wrap around your leg and are adjustable with straps and clasps so they fit securely without being too tight or loose. The foot protection could be a little longer and they could go down a little lower on your foot, but there's only a small unprotected area there that probably is below the strike of most snakes. I occasionally find myself pushing them down from the top as they can ride up, but I think tweaking the straps will fix that.I think you'll be hard pressed to find better protection in this price range.
