excellent product
Well built, but the shaft could be a little longer for gates that traverse an unlevel surface. Regardless, the wheel, installed with a little vertical tension, prevents the gate from sagging. very satisfied.

Worked fine, Easy install
These work as advertised. Built well, and was a fairly easy install. Too soon to know how these will weather. I coated the unpainted parts, bearings, axles, etc... with a light grease to help ward off rust. Our drive is sloped. There is about a 2" drop in the six foot length of the gate when opened. It takes up the full vertical travel of the wheel and it does not touch the concrete when the gate is opened... so the wheel locking is kind of worthless for holding the gate open. I have some 1/4" thick aluminum and I think I will glue or bolt a small 4"x4" pad to the concrete where the wheel rests when the gate is opened. This will give the wheel something to grip when the lock is engaged.

Average quality.
Average quality. Looks decent but not as heavy duty as was expected. Wheel retained only by an internal spring clip that will eventually rust releasing the wheel. Finish is nice.

Does the job on paved driveway/walkway
Worked like a charm. We have a 3' picket fence dividing our driveway and walkway with a 4' long gate that was sagging. The springs help navigate the uneven grade on the driveway and the caster provides much needed support for that end of the gate.I would not recommend this for unpaved terrain. The caster is a pretty standard hard plastic material and I imagine it would get gunked up with dirt/mud quite easily, but for paved/hard surfaces it works fine.As others here have mentioned, it doesn't come with instructions, but it's pretty intuitive. Latch your gate shut and place the bracket against the gate so the wheel is resting on the ground, then mark your holes about 1/4" below that spot to account for the "give" of the spring.

Solid
This wheel seems very solid. I bought it to help with the weight of a large gate. We just installed it a few days ago, so not sure how the longevity of it will be. No directions come in the box, so I watched the videos provided online. Had no problems installing it.

Works well after install, but plan carefully
First, no installation instructions were provided. Second, product pictures show the bolt going from the caster into and through the gate, then finally screwing the nut. I had injury concerns with that if somebody walks by and hits their toe or leg or head against the bolt that is sticking out of the gate. As you can see in the photos, I reversed it: having the nut face the caster instead. Now, don't make the mistake I did: I bolted the caster too high up when I did not account for the compression of the spring. I had to move the three holes down a notch in order for the heavy gate to be up high enough. If I had to do this again, I would have lowered the caster by 2 bolt holes to get generous enough of a clearance off the ground. Lesson learned. Also, predrill the holes before you screw the bolt through, or you will risk cracking the wood like I did (I was too lazy with 2 holes).Opening/closing the gate is quite smooth now.

Keeps my gate from dragging on the driveway
Earlier this spring I built a gate from pressure treated 2x6's and cedar planks. The gate needed to span 13 feet across my driveway. I built two 6.5' frames with compression bracing at 45* and lap joints at each corner and for the compression brace. Glued everything together with Titebond III and secured everything with heavy duty deck screws. Even with cabinetry style construction of the gate still started to sag, that's the nature of wood and making a wide gate. I added these casters to keep the gate from dragging on the driveway. They installed quickly and I installed them "pre-loaded" about half the travel so the gate always has upward pressure on it. They removed the small amount of sag that had already set in and I hope will keep the gate from sagging any further. I can always add a tension cable if they continue to sag.

price and reviews
They work perfect for the fence gate. Just enough retraction when rolling on uneven asphalt driveway. I figure my gate weighs about 75lbs -100lbs and they hold it up without sagging.
