Survey of the world's troublespots
I am not someone who is in a position to judge the specifics of John Andrews' history of recent world discord, but I sense that this book is a valuable overview of many troublespots, and offers a wide perspective. The sheer number of conflicts sometimes comes across as a litany of human failures, and can make for depressing reading. But to have some perspective is important, if for no other reason than to realize that the notion of today's conflicts being somehow different from what has come before is folly. The author has certainly had the experience as an author and journalist to lend credibility to his views.

It's okay
Factual and efficient, this overview of the world's hot spots released in early 2016 will not set any records for written style, but is comprehensive. By the staff of The Economist.

Comprehensive overview of the world's current and potential areas of conflict
Fascinating overview of the world's current and potential conflict hotspots. Attempts to cover the globe, so very comprehensive. If new conflict boils over somewhere on the planet, its background is likely to be covered in this book.Gives good depth in explanations of the issues and how they arose historically, without bogging the reader down in detail. Written for the general audience, so easy to read and understand.Another advantage of this book is it's very up-to-date, including recent developments.

A good read for someone wanting more knowledge of the current ...
A good read for someone wanting more knowledge of the current world conflicts. Book is pretty updated since it’s published in 2016. Lot of stats and names of all the organization and groups that could be overwhelming for some readers.

Reference material
If you are doing a paper and need reference material and do not have a good background of the political side of the world this is a good book for that.

Informational and well-researched.
This book is full of interesting details and history of the background of many conflict zones in the world. However, it lacks an overall perspective.

Five Stars
A very interesting and informative account of current conflicts. Risks becoming promptly obsolete, in this crazy world

High level review of conflicts
One cannot provide a full history on every conflict on the planet but this was a really good review of what is going on currently. I was saddened to read that religion (one in specific) was a reason for conflict almost all over the world. That is naturally not the only reason, crime and power over natural resources are other major reasons. But I was really saddened to understand that in this time and age we still have religious conflicts in the world.

An enlightening guide to current world conflicts.
This updated edition(2022) gives a reasonably impartial account of the numerous conflicts currently erupting around the world. The 8 enlightening chapters are titled: 'Why conflicts happen'; 'Middle East and north Africa: connected by Islam'; 'Africa: rich in resources, poor in governance'; 'The UK and Europe: bloodied past, complacent present, uncertain future'; 'The Americas: faith, drugs and revolution'; 'The United States: both superpower and vulnerable Goliath'; 'Asia: people and potential - for both peace and war' & 'War without end?'Anyone tired of the superficial and often biased media coverage of world conflicts should read John Andrews' clearly written book which explains the causes and provides historical context for these violent power struggles.

Great Document.
One of the best books you'll ever read if you're interested in comprehending global conflicts currently happening.Even if it's 2015 updated I suggest you to buy this document to have a war related background for each relevant (and non relevant) country in the world.

Good read, but comes across a bit biased in a few cases.
A nice summary on the major conflicts. Good for general understanding, but in many cases it comes across a bit biased.

Just about okay
It is like a collection of the articles from The Economist. Content okay but proofreading and editing required at some places.Published on cheap brownish paper but I got a 50% discount, so no cribbing.
