Solid feel, not lacquered to death either!
The media could not be loaded. Highly recommend for the durability but also the nice texture and esthetic finish.

Good quality, ok finish
Nice product, I used it to attach to a Viking Boarding axe head that I had purchased from another vendor. Hardwood as described, has a nice burnt finish. Ready to use out of the box. Not quite center grain wood but still excellent quality. I spent a little time finishing it a little nicer as it was a gift. Sanded down the handle with progressively finer grit sandpaper, re-torched it just a bit, then rubbed it with mineral oil lightly, then made sure to get any excess oil off. It finished quite nicely. I would get this product again.

I spent 1 hour on each removing wood so they would fit the axe head
