This book is definitely worth the purchase for overall Nutritional guidelines for horses!

I always hated reading about nutrition when I was in school (dry,dull,boring) But this is a supremely well written, organized and illustrated work. I began learning new useful things by the second page! I recommend buying it if for no other reason than to compliment your library

Very useful book to dip into

Ce livre est vraiment une mine d'or. Par contre, je ne le conseillerais pas comme livre de découverte de l'alimentation équine. Il est plus adapté pour les personnes ayant déjà de solides bases théoriques. Attention pour les utilisateurs français que certaines données étant américaines, elles ne sont pas forcément adaptées dans nos conditions et notamment pour ce qui concerne les compositions chimiques des aliments qui peuvent varier du fait du sol et du climat.

The big plus side of this reference book is a very balanced approach to topics around equine nutrition with a truly academic standard. Unfortunately, some of the chapters are the exact same as have been published in journals years before, so not much of an update by some authors. That was disappointing, because in my field of interest I knew pretty much all of the publications already. Since most of these can be accessed electronically at no cost, I am only willing to award 4 stars out of 5.Warning to all laypersons: Most of the topics explored in this book would not suit your needs, because they are just be not relevant enough for daily horse care or feeding practice.
