Sunbeam 2524 200-Watt 6-Speed Hand Mixer, White with Black Accents

I have been using this Sunbeam brand hand mixer for about 25 years. They last and last. Fantastic value, great price. This is my third. The most recent one would still be chugging along if I hadn't dropped the rubber scraper into the batter, where it got caught between the beaters and scrunched them and misaligned them so they weren't in sync with each other any more. I think that's what happened to the last one, too. Thank goodness Amazon STILL HAD THE SAME MIXER, and I ordered right away. I feel right at home. I'm sure this one will give me the same great quality service at the most reasonable cost. And I do a lot of baking, a LOT! You would think I would have learned to take more care when handling the rubber scraper.

I scanned a lot of hand mixer reviews of many brands at various price points and finally chose this model because (1) my mid-century modern hand mixer that failed was also a Sunbeam, so it felt appropriate, (2) I saw no mixer that got uniformly positive reviews; all seemed to have dire flaws, so (3) given that fact, it made sense to go with the cheapest mixer, which this one is, as far as I could see. So far I find it to be a pleasant surprise. It mixes well, it's easy to use, it feels good in hand, and (unlike a lot of reviewers) I find the low speed setting to be quite civilized indeed. My one concern about this mixer is that it's designed in such a way that, when mixing batches that include dry flour, the flour (before getting incorporated with the wet ingredients) does get somewhat sucked into the innards of the device; some of it shoots out of the back end, and some of it, presumably, gets deposited within the mixer, where in time no doubt it'll foul the motor. When that finally happens, I'll feel a lot less bad about it than if I'd paid $60--or $120 (!) for a more trendy, upscale mixer that may or may not even work any better than this one.

For the price, you can't get much better. I am quite pleased with this mixer. My old one finally gave out and I do not need a mixer very often but when I do this works just fine. One thing to note, the article on Amazon said it comes with beaters and dough hooks. No, the dough hooks are NOT included with this mixer. I also agree with other comments regarding the speeds. There is no slow speed. This mixer goes from fast speed and increases to warp drive in steps.

First thing to note, there is no low speed. But if you're looking to make quick work of mashed potatoes or creaming butter and sugar, this thing works wonders. This is my second one the first died after 10 years of heavy/consistent use. I'm sad they made the beaters smaller since the big deal with this one was normal size beaters on a handheld mixer, but my old ones work with it, so now I just have an extra set! So pleased it works the same and hasn't changed too much. I was heartbroken when the last one died and it was like a miracle to receive an almost perfect replacement.

I purchased this mixer a year ago to replace the exact same mixer that I ruined by getting the motor wet.I had purchased my original Sunbeam mixer years ago at Walmart but they no longer carry this one in store.The reason I purchased this same mixer IS because it has a lot of power. I use mine specifically to mix mashed potatoes. I like that it has power to mix 10 or more lbs. of potatoes without any hesitation. As for the splattering of batter on walls, I make sure I use a deep bowl or pot, no problems here. I also own another hand mixer that has lower speed settings that I use to mix cake batter and I also own a professional stand mixer for the more heavy duty mixing. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Love it!

Sunbeam has been around for a while so one would think that they would have a great industrial engineering team who have perfected speed control. Speed variation is very critical for individuals such as myself who enjoy baking. While the design is just stunning, very retro, this mixer has only two speeds; fast and faster despite the notation for five. I love using hand mixers but the functionality of this one is perfect for egg whites only. If you are incorporating flour, look forward to looking like an "I Love Lucy" episode.

This is the most powerful mixer I've ever used. It has 6 speeds.... once you pass #3 (speed) hold on tight...it might get away from you. Very light weight and only needing a small space in the cabinet to store. I highly recommend.

Thin-feeling, LOUD hand mixer. Works great. Didn't cost too much. Decent value. A few design changes in this appliance would have made it rather endearing -- like a translucent body, a tiny headlight, something like that. On-body storage of the whisks would not have been a bad idea. They're also somewhat thin and cheap feeling, but, again, THEY WORK GREAT, so for a seldom-used appliance, I'm completely satisfied with this mixer.---Update: Something I should have mentioned (please see photo) is that this little thing sits on its rear end very nicely, even with the rotors installed. A useful feature, sometimes you need to park a mixer for a second or two (not when it's running, of course...).

Excellent power with no bogging down. Great value for the money based on the old classic. Recommend.

I had the Sunbeam stand mixer with bowls lasted for years. And I Bake, so it was used often.I bought this hand mixer and even on its lowest setting it’s pretty powerful, mixes evenly andwhips egg whites or cream quickly. Button at top of mixer handle releases the beaters. Easyto clean.

This is a great value. It is very powerful...but beware, even the low setting is extremely fast!

Hopefully it will stand the test of time. It is replacing exactly the same unit that I have had for, I have no idea how many years and only had to replace it as one of the beaters wouldn't turn anymore. My old was a real trooper and I am just so pleased that I was able to purchase the same. Great mixer for a hand held!
