Beyond Mars and Venus: Relationship Skills for Today's Complex World

Packed full of helpful information
Gray has once again used his vast knowledge and experience to close the communication gap between men and women. How much angst would be released, marriages and relationships saved if we just knew what he is talking about here? I know my relationships would have been much better. The errors we all make in communicating could be avoided if we realized men and women speak different languages. It is so simple yet so overlooked. Roles have changed and new medical knowledge is backing up what he said all along.

Excellent and very insightful information. So good, I am going to read it again!
I just read two of Dr. Gray’s book in less than a week. The first one I read was the dating book and now this one. My partner and I are deeply in love and we are in our 40’s and 50’s and which tells you our spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical maturity. We know what we want and what we deserve. Reading this book is going to help us maintain the beautiful balance of love we have for each other. Hopefully, for a lifetime.

Painfully Repetitive
I purchased this audiobook because I heard Dr. Gray on a podcast. I'm midway through the book and feel that the podcast would have sufficed. His theories are interesting, but as the headline states, I find this book to be painfully repetitive. You'll hear the words estrogen, testosterone, male side and female side over & over & over. Again, the theories are interesting, but there's so much minutia, it's difficult to get through. I have 3 hrs remaining and will update my review if I feel any differently at the end. He talks about the different phases in a woman's cycle and what she needs during each phase. But I feel that all the repetitiveness and back & forth amongst the different phases makes it overly complicated and my only takeaway is to find balance in your life and in your relationship. Spend time with your partner, spend time with others, spend time alone. I suppose one other takeaway is that many working women these days are on their 'male side' much of the time. So we need to nurture our female side in order to balance ourselves. Something I already sort of intuitively knew, but it's a good reminder.

Beyond Mars and Venus by John Gray
Much repetition and rambling. I have read about hormones and I don't agree with all that is said. Progesterone lowers at menopause. I love John Gray. I think this book could be 1/3 the size and still say the same thing, but it was interesting, but very wordy. I read almost all of John Gray books. I am glad he is into nutrition/Alternative medicine which is awesome. I agree a man needs to be sensitive when a women has her monthly cycle. Sometimes she wants to be along and may feel sick at her period time and sometime it is right for romance/sex. PMS may happen and period issues due to gluten which may cause intestines to not absorb nutrients well and may lower the thyroid. I am not sure how a man/women can change their hormones by their life. I know a hug heals and people need 4 hugs a day. Many people may get no hugs a day or validations. A strong masculine guy may bring out the feminine in women. A masculine women may not be able to change fast to a feminine one after work. Our society maybe estrogen dominant so men maybe more feminine due to meat/dairy/soy/BPA/fat etc. raising estrogen. Many people are confused about their gender due to food/environment affecting them. Getting our society back on track and not just assuming there is nothing that can be done is not good. Fix the diet/food and people may have a traditional family again and genders. No gluten/dairy/soy/sugar/GMO/food with a label...taking vitamins/good oils/minerals...probiotic..LDN..detoxing may help. It was an ok book, but some people may be confused by all the hormone talk.

Wish I knew about this book years ago!
I have a lot (about 50 to 100 books) of self-help, Spiritual, relationships books from the best authors, but thus one takes the cake! This is the best book I ever read, and that speaks volumes! He has been accused of being a chauvinist, however I'm a well educated and successful woman, and I did not find this book to be chauvinistic at all. Femininity is a strength in itself. Femininity allows you to let go and trust, and it takes strength to trust someone, and to trust yourself to trust someone. Dr. Gray does an excellent job explaining everything so well by using bold subtitles and descriptive charts. He also gets repetitive but that's a plus because by the time you get through one third of the book, you'll have a great understanding of how hormones and neurotransmitters work. Yes the guy breaks down relationships down to the science. He tells you about relationships like no other. I've watched many relationship gurus, but none like this. I love his YouTube channel as well! This man is truly Blessed. He has a message to give to the world!

If you are single, dating, or in a relationship this is a must read (If you are human this book will benefit you, I promise)
After reading this book everything makes more sense. My husband and I both read the book and now that we understand how we are different and why we say and do and react the ways we do everything comes easier, especially communication. The book is informative with real life examples and information that helps every relationship even if only one person reads it, the effect on the relationship is still substantial. It doesnt matter if you are just dating, newlyweds, or have been married for years, the information is equally beneficial to everyone. I was surprised at the level of insight in this book. John Gray does a wonderful job at providing results from his 30 years of working with people as well as scientific information regarding hormones and brain function that once known can have a profound impact on your life from how you relate to people of the opposite sex to understanding your own body and moods. I wish I could have read this book as a teenager, it helped me to understand my body (hormones), why I do what I do, and how to be my true authentic self while balancing my male and female sides. This book should be a required read for every single person, if taught in schools our kids would be prepared for real world interactions and the knowledge they need to lead happy healthy lives as well as have happy healthy relationships, in their personal lives and at work.

I like the first book best
I personally found more useful advices in the book Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus. This book is useful too, but very repetitive and I had to do further research on the Internet about how hormones affect my life.
