Transformers: Lost Light, Vol. 3

Business is about to pick up
Lost Light volume 3 kicks off the series' final story in earnest, and it's impossible to get to the end of this without a heavy feeling that business is about to pick up in a big way. Volume 3 starts out with a single issue's contribution from More Than Meets The Eye artist Alex Milne, and it's great to see his lines back on the series even if it's just for a moment. The rest of the art from Brendan Cahill and Jack Lawrence is very well done too, and the entire volume not only looks great but is easy to visually read as well. The last half of this volume is dedicated to "The Everlasting Voices" (aka issues 16 - 18) which begins a series of revelations that deliver amazingly satisfying payoff to long term readers. James Roberts' skill at long term plotting truly becomes apparent here - and continues into the soon to be released volume 4 - with imaginative ideas that manage to feel completely authentic within the sci-fi context of the story. All the while, the signature character work found throughout the series continues on with an appreciated increase in focus on the four "main" characters of the entire series as it begins to draw to a close - Rodimus, Ultra Magnus, Drift, and Ratchet. This volume should not be missed by anyone that loves good comics, Transformers, or both!

More great work from James Roberts.
I've been a huge fan of this story since MTMTE Vol. 1 and, honestly, it's all just been building on each other since then. I don't recommend that anyone jumps in with this as your first taste, but I'm hungrily awaiting Vol. 4!
